I agree with you Facial recognition-wise. But from an investigative standpoint the case doesn't seem that cold. While legally speaking I don't want to outright accuse anyone and get crap for it, as a private citizen voicing my opinion (and I am allowed to do that) it is my opinion that there are likely people that know exactly where Van Wisse is hiding. And it's a matter of digging deeper into that and any other possible investigative tools- social security index etc... That's the reason why he was added to the list because, they've already done investigative work and have determined where he may have been. His addition to the Top Ten is just the accelerant they need to flush him out.

Also I forgot to add that Van Wisse has been on the top ten list for 1 month now.

Oh I agree, while he most likely won't be caught by someone recognizing him, he will get caught because too many people related to him know or have known his whereabouts. I would be surprised if he has even been all that active in hiding. Probably just a name change and living normally in Mexico or Belize.

I wonder exactly what year it actually was when they determined through investigation that he may be in Latin America working as an English teacher or on a plantation. This is the one question I seriously do have, because that's important too.
If it was determined recently, then catching Van Wisse would be just like when they caught Fidel Urbina.
[[Shouldn't Van Wisse's Year be 1983/1996 since he committed the crime in 83 and the charges weren't filed until 96]]

The year chosen is determined by the poster. (As the admin I'd have final say but in general). Years placed next to the fugitives are determined by warrant year or year of alleged crime (sometimes it is of course both.) I already mentioned earlier in his thread I wanted to stress the time of alleged offense as opposed to warrant year because Van Wisse pretty much disappeared since 1983, even if his warrant wasn't issued until about over a dozen years later.

Oh okay I got it 😊. Also Van Wisse's family has property in Mexico and Guatemala..... just thought I'd put that out there. However I'm curious about the investigation and why they determined he may have worked as an English teacher or plantation worker and if so when was this determined because as I've stated above, if it was recently then that means there's some intelligence on Van Wisse.

This is incredible! I knew this wasn't as cold a case as it seemed on the surface, but who woulda thunk Van Wisse would just voluntarily turn himself in 20 years after his warrant and 33 plus years in overall hiding? Must have known the law would catch up with him!
To justice4Laurie, I'm so incredibly happy for you. I know Van Wisse's arrest won't bring Laurie back, but at least now there may be a sense of justice if he's proven guilty in a court of law and convicted.

This is another sexy day guys, cold case Robert Van Wisse goes down. For the first time since 2009 3 slots are open 😊.
By far the fastest capture of a cold case fugitive, we got rid of Gerena and added another 1983 fugitive with an even better result. This means now the FBI can add who they want now and my list of candidates gets bigger.

Awesome news. I figured once the pressure was on he would be caught or give himself up.

He actually looks rather expressionless to me but I would agree he hasn't aged well.
