Anthony "Tony" Mota may very well be a real-life Tony Soprano. He is an alleged gangster who is considered one of New Jersey State Police's 12 Most Wanted fugitives. As far as I know, he has aired on AMW radio, but I don't know if he ever made the show itself.
Mota is wanted on charges of murder, racketeering, kidnapping, extortion, arson, and unlawful use of a firearm. Mota was working for Colombian drug dealers in New York City collecting drug-related debts owed the Colombian gangsters when he kidnapped and killed Eddie Acevedo.
According to testimony and evidence presented at Bienvenido Casilla's criminal trial, an accomplice of Anthony Mota, describes a story about the infamous underworld of Colombian drug dealing in New York City, which leads to a vicious kidnapping, extortion, and murder in New Jersey and New York.
Below is a more detailed account of the story from the website fugitivekillers.com. Although the website is a bit sensational in it's wording (they have sections such as Most wanted Ho's, and call Jason Derek Brown a Most Wanted bisexual), they do a very thorough job (so much so it would take up too much space to put it all here).
Nevertheless, I can say the kidnapping, extortion, and murder plot ended in Acevedo being shot twice and his car was set on fire.
Thoughts? Mota was born in the Dominican Republic so he may be there. But he also had ties to a Colombian drug lord, so in my opinion he may be in Colombia as well. Not trying to glorify this guy and his crimes, but he does seem like a "classic" gangster type of the olden days we don't really see anymore. Nevertheless, despite that, Mota should still be considered extremely dangerous. Not trying to minimize Mota's alleged crimes and his victim should still receive justice, but the main reason I added Mota was because I find this case rather interesting and fascinating- you have a gangster that seems like a Dominican version of Tony Soprano not seen since 97 yet there's very little publicity on him. Anyway, if you see Mota or know where he is, obviously, don't approach him, but call the NJSP hotline.
