Four people were shot early Friday morning after the gunman was kicked out of a house party about four blocks from the
Bethune-Cookman University campus in Daytona Beach, officials said.
Police are searching for the shooter, who they identified as Vincent Tyrone Smith, 23.
According to police, Smith has gang ties. But it's unclear whether the shooting was gang-related.
Smith may be driving an orange 2011 Chevy Camero with this Florida plate number: BFJ3044, police said.
He is facing aggravated battery with a firearm and reckless discharge of a firearm charges.
"The shooting was the result of retaliation for the suspect being kicked out of the party at that address some time ago," a news release said.
Officers were called to a home in the 300 block of Henry Butts Drive — four blocks southeast of B-CU's campus — about 12:15 a.m. Friday.
About 50 people were at the home for a house party, according to an incident report.
When police arrived, they saw blood in the driveway leading into the residence.
But they could not locate any victims.
None of the witnesses would cooperate with police, the report said.
Soon, police learned from dispatch that the victims were on their way to Halifax Hospital in Daytona Beach.
Officials identified the victims as Reginald Graham, 20, Vintonisha Smith, 19, Frank Thomas, 21 and Darian Baker, 21.
According to the report, none of the victims live at the home where the party occurred.
Also, according to TV news reports, the victims are not B-CU students.
Graham was shot in the left side, police said.
Smith was shot in the right side. Thomas was hit in the right hand, and Baker was shot in the right hand.
