Who to call if you've seen him: Local FBI field office or embassy
Andrew Brantz is a convicted child molester who has not been seen since 1992 after facing a new charge. He was on AMW as a web-exclusive fugitive. Below is the FBI.Gov archive description of his case:
"Andrew J. Brantz, a convicted sex offender, is wanted for child molestation in Arizona. In January of 1986, Brantz was convicted of molesting a family member, who was under the age of 15. Brantz was charged with one count of attempted sexual molestation, and one count of dangerous crimes against children. The incidents, which took place over a period of 5 years, occurred when the female victim was alone with Brantz. The molestation involved Brantz fondling the victim inside her clothing.
After serving 6 months of his 5-year prison term in jail, Brantz subsequently received life-time probation for the above-mentioned crime. After his release from prison in 1986, Brantz allegedly molested another family member under the age of 15. He allegedly fondled the female victim underneath her clothing, and the incidents were reported to authorities in 1991.
A state warrant was issued on May 26, 1992, by the Superior Court of the state of Arizona, County of Maricopa, after Brantz violated his probation. On February 3, 1999, Brantz was charged federally with unlawful flight to avoid prosecution by the United States District Court, District of Arizona, and a federal warrant was issued for his arrest. Additionally, on October 6, 2006, an absconder warrant was issued for Brantz by the Superior Court of Arizona, County of Maricopa. Brantz was last seen in 1992 when he left his Arizona residence without notifying his probation officer."
Thoughts? Brantz is no longer on the FBI's website but I checked the Maricopa County Criminal Court case search system and Brantz has had no movement in his case since 1992- that is enough to satisfy me that it's likely this case is still active. (Because we're a discussion site and not an *official* law enforcement site, the bar is a bit lower for confirming fugitives- so really all I need is either a warrant, seeing no movement in the fugitive's court case, or a recent article to while not always 100 percent sure say it is more likely than not a fugitive is still on the run).
As for Brantz himself, AMW's old archive seemed to speculate Brantz may be in Southern California. Since he was born in California, I assume that can still be the case. However, unlike Davidson who we discussed yesterday, Brantz did have health issues so even though 61 is relatively young, considering no one's seen him for 23 years, it is in my opinion fair to speculate about as to whether or not he is still alive.
