On November 1, 2008, America's Most Wanted introduced the case of the Los Angeles Grim Sleeper in a two-part profile. From August 1985 through November 1988, a then-unknown serial killer had been murdering African-American women in South Central Los Angeles. Most of them were sexual murders. AMW interviewed a wounded survivor who described the killer's distinct orange Ford Pinto, and the crimes he was accused of committing against her after knocking her unconscious. She survived a bullet wound to the chest. For about 14 years, the killings appeared to cease, but in 2002, the murders started up again. The space between two series of murders by one suspect led police to nickname the perpetrator "The Grim Sleeper". From 2002 through New Year's Day 2007, 3 more women were murdered. AMW profiled the case a couple more times before DNA found on pizza crusts collected at a birthday lunch party was linked to Lonnie David Franklin Jr, a former sanitation worker and garage attendant who worked briefly in such low-level work for the Los Angeles Police Department. In mid-December 2010, photos found in Franklin's home were released, in hopes that the women pictured could be identified, as well as what Franklin had to do with them. The trial was delayed an additional half-decade before beginning in February 2016. Today, Franklin has been convicted of capital murder, 10 dead, 1 wounded. The jury will return for the sentencing phase on May 12, and they might condemn Franklin to death.

He will die of natural cases long before a needle gets anywhere near him. Only good thing is he'll be locked up 24/7 in a cell by himself.

You were right Ninja! Although likely sooner than any of us were expecting. I was hoping Franklin died a long and painful death from coronavirus, but it seems he went quicky. Regardless, society is now a little bit better without him.

You were right Ninja! Although likely sooner than any of us were expecting. I was hoping Franklin died a long and painful death from coronavirus, but it seems he went quicky. Regardless, society is now a little bit better without him. I'm of the mindset that I don't care how long or short the process is when it comes to their death, as long as they're dead. He died behind bars as he should have, all we can ask for.
