The reward amount for information on a fugitive who said he will re-offend was raised Thursday, Aug. 1, according to a Texas Department of Public Safety news release.
The department is offering up to $13,000 — a $10,000 increase — for tips received this month on John Michael Enard, 59, who is listed in the state’s 10 most wanted sex offenders list, according to the release.
Enard is about 6 feet tall, weighs 155 pounds and has scars on his forehead, face and left knee, according to the department’s website.
Enard, who has family in Houston and Lafayette, La., escaped in January from the Southeast Texas Transitional Treatment Center in Harris County. Enard was paroled to the center in December.
Enard removed his GPS tracking device and climbed over a fence in his escape, according to the release.
Enard was convicted on four counts of burglary with intent to rape and three counts of sexual assault in 1982, and was sentenced to 10 years with the Texas Department of Criminal Justice.
He was serving a serving a 75-year sentence for aggravated kidnapping and aggravated sexual assault with the Texas Department of Criminal Justice, according to the release.
Authorities consider Enard armed and dangerous.
Anyone with information can call in tips to 1 (800) 252-8477 or text the letters DPS followed by the tip to 274637.
I've read other articles which state Enard has "promised" to re-offend before going back to prison. He's been on the run since January, and considering his alleged promise and track record, I am very concerned as to what he could have done already. It is very important he be taken off the streets because in my opinion it is a matter of when and not if he will victimize someone again. If anyone sees him, call the Texas Crimestoppers hotline right away.
