AMW.com has updated the news that Janet Barreto is now on the USMS top 15 list. Good sign they're at least updating that- but they haven't actually edited the actual USMS section yet.

Looks like they have been spotted in Maywood again. The marshals are going door-to-door and a spokesman feels they are 72 hours away from locating them. This is an exciting development that I hope pans out. They are thisclose but no cigar. Also, I don't place high odds on it but does anyone think there may be a slight chance of AMW getting a direct capture credit if the Barrettos are caught? Keep in mind it was AMW tips that led to the Marshals finding out about their California travels in the first place. Like I said a very-off chance, but I'm cautiously optimistic that it can actually happen. djournal.com/view/full_story/22941235/article-Marshals-continue-search-for-Barretos?instance=home_news_right

I think I mentioned before that Janet just may not want to flee to Latin America which would be supported by this most recent lead out of California. This manhunt has gone on far too long.

Still no news yet. Rather frustrating how close but so far away this chase is. I thought this would be a much easier capture a long time ago.

Unfortunately, it is now confirmed the search has come up empty handed. A Marshals supervisor for the Oxford, Mississippi reason is headed home. But he says despite this setback, he is confident, and states that thanks to the US Marshals list publicity they have gotten "great information" and have cut off a lot of their sources. Even he is surprised they have lasted this long. My personal feeling is the problem with catching them is while I wouldn't exactly call them homeless- I would call them transients. They travel from town to town selling their puppies and DVD's- but don't seem to stay long. I don't think the Barretos are that smart- but their lifestyle has unfortunately and unwittingly made them hard to catch. djournal.com/view/full_story/22974361/article-Barretos-continue-to-elude-authorities?instance=home_news_bullets

The Humane Society is now offering a five thousand dollar reward for Janet Barreto's capture. This is in addition to the twenty-five thousand offered by the Marshals service. The article mentions she may be using online personal ads using several different aliases to sell the puppies. And Texas, California, and Mexico are still listed as possibilities for flea markets and parking lots where her and her husband may try to sell them. As someone who takes fugitives who harm children the most seriously, but in addition is a huge fan of animals, I couldn't be happier to see the Humane Society offer this reward. I'm really sick and tired of this couple being on the run and this manhunt needs to end now. www.khou.com/community/blogs/animal-attraction/Animal-Attraction--Fugitive-Sought-for-Connections-to-Puppy-Mills-Homicide-Death-of-Toddler-236042501.html

P.S. This means from AMW on Lifetime's "Couples On The Run" special only Bruce Sawhill and Kenny Jo Sawhill (she's technically a missing person) are left! What a successful episode from a great concept!

About time! I'll wait until the news conference to make more comments but this is such an amazing capture! Funny that I was planning to post the forum members dirty dozen list today and Janet Barreto was going to be on list.

I was wondering if my most wanted fugitive of O-Ten would ever be caught, and then I check in today and BOOM! They're captured!
EDIT: A few websites have suggested that signs of sexual assault were found on the children. Now, if they question Ramon about whether he molested any of the children, he and Janet Sr. will finally have to answer that question once and for all!

So now that there are four open spots on the US Marshals 15 Most Wanted List, can the Marshals be more proactive and fill at least one of those spots?

Once Juan Elias Garcia was captured the FBI wasted no time naming his replacement weeks later. (Brad Bishop). That remains to be seen with the USMS but with four open slots hopefully they fill it with at least one new name soon since in my opinion there are too many good candidates. Not to mention I'm sure The Hunt is still getting good leads on McLean and Stoeser. We might see the Marshals top 15 turn into a top 10 list soon!

Yeah they look totally the same. I'm amazed it took five years for what I thought would be a quick capture but relieved they're caught. Curious about the public tip though. Did the person at the mall recognize the Barretos from America's Most Wanted? The US Marshals Top 15 List? Amwfans.com (can we please get official credit for a capture already lol)?
