I couldn't come up with a way to make the edited title include The Hunt and make it fit, lol. Then of course you just got rid of the year date in the title so thanks for that.

Haha no problem. I did think to myself if direct capture #1 wasn't Shane Miller or Brad Bishop it would still be a great capture but nowhere near as dramatic. Boy was I wrong...

Nothing much new, except the arresting NYPD officer (officer Muniz) was wearing a bulletproof vest which was shot through- the vest likely saved his life.

Thanks to John Walsh and the tipsters, and the family who came forward to ask for help searching for the abuser, the molester Mozdir is muerto! Now nobody has to recount the abuses in court, California doesn't have to spend tax money on a trial, we don't have to spend money feeding and housing him in prison, and most importantly, no other family will ever have to worry about him ever being released from prison and striking again! The perks of a fugitive dying before they can be taken alive! The only thing that makes me happier is that the Marshals are in stable condition rather than deathly wounded!

I prefer a fugitive be lawfully taken in, but when they shoot at cops, I have no sympathy for what happens to them.
I also would have preferred they not be wounded at all but glad to know their injuries are said to be non life-threatening. I thank them for putting their lives on the line every day and especially today.

They had John Walsh on CNN again last night. He said it was a female friend from Florida that had the crucial tip that led to the location of Charles Mozdir.
He also said he knew Mozdir was dangerous but seemed somewhat surprised it ended this way.
He also said it is probably better for the victim of Mozdir and his parents in the long run that it ended this way since it spares the pain of a trial.
They also interviewed one of the Coronado detectives who was on ththe Hunt and he seemed to confirm this. He spoke to the victim's mother and he said she's relieved.

Reading through the news and lots of updates. I will provide links later if I can but a general summary- the Smoke Shop Owner may have given a tip as well, the two US Marshals are out of the hospital while Officer Muniz is still recovering. I also read in one article two teenage girls thought they saw Mozdir at a swimming pool staring at them about a week or so earlier and were extremely creeped out. I don't like talking about myself too much- I prefer to remain an anonymous super hero and not make this site about me - but seeing as big a city as this is I feel comfortable saying I live in New York City and obviously this was the top story on the news here. It's crazy. People at work were talking to me about this and it's surreal since they have no idea I run a website that also profiled this guy. I feel like Peter Parker while one of my co-workers at the Daily Bugle is talking to me about Doctor Octopus. One of my friends is even messaging me about how they work in the area and what it's like walking by the scene- I trust them but it's just I tell very few people- I don't feel the need to- so once again I'm talking about it and they don't know I run this site LOL. Also since I live in New York- I have it attached- the front page of the New York Daily News- with Mozdir and John Walsh on the cover! It was front page of the New York Post as well! Attachments:

If you were to tell me before the season one of the fugitives profiled on The Hunt this season would result in a shootout death, I'd guess Shane Miller first and David Burgert second. John Walsh even said on CNN last night he was surprised it ended this way because most child molesters are cowards when backed into a corner. I think pakman is the only poster here who wasn't surprised. In retrospect it does seem he was determined to never go to prison, but I still would have assumed he would have turned the gun on himself rather than shoot at officers. The fact that the two Marshals and one Officer were shot in areas besides the head- and especially officer Muniz who was shot through his bulletproof vest- makes me wonder if what Mozdir really was trying to pull off was suicide by cop. Intentionally or not, he got his wish to not go to jail, and we can all rest easy knowing he won't try to hurt anyone else.

It turns out Mozdir's dog "Lucky" is believed to be stolen from his girlfriend in Florida. Also I read that he used the alias John Smith. Mozdir's victim's mother said John was her husband's name and it might have reflected Mozdir's obsession with him. But my question is how did a name like that NOT arouse suspicion? If I own a place and a potentially employee tells me his name is John Smith- I might ask him what his real name is. If you notice, usually fugitives, unless they're using a dead person's identity and have no choice but to use whatever their name is, often use common names or variations of their first and middle names in an attempt to make it common and not stand out. But John Smith? That's too common even by common standards! www.amny.com/news/charles-mozdir-s-dog-lucky-was-stolen-by-the-accused-child-molester-1.8928870
