Elizabeth Bowie was a beloved school teacher who eventually become romantically involved with Juan Lazaro Abrego, who she met after helping out his nephew's family with his dying grandpa. According to the AMW re-enactment of what allegedly unfolded, Abrego was jealous and posessive constantly accusing Bowie of sleeping with her male friend, and in addition to that allegedly verbally and physically abused her. Bowie jumped out of Abrego's car during one tirade. It seemed the relationship was over. But Abrego couldn't take no for an answer and Bowie's body was found by Smyrna, Georgia police in her own condo. Abrego allegedly boarded a bus from North Carolina to Texas, and then fled to Mexico, where Bowie's parents say authorities narrowly missed him in Mexico City. This is a case that really pisses me off. Elizabeth Bowie was by all accounts a great and charitable person. She never did anything wrong but no matter how hard she tried and how nice she was, nothing was ever good enough for this jealous coward. In a season where AMW profiled a lot of bad people, Abrego was one of the many that I really hated having to leave off my top 10 of 2012 list. I hope he's caught soon and glad to see there seems to be cooperation between the US and Mexico. In the words of her friend on AMW, if anyone deserves justice, it's Elizabeth Bowie. www.amw.com/fugitives/case.cfm?id=79410www.gwinnettdailypost.com/news/2012/jan/25/suwanee-family-hopes-national-exposure-will-bring/Admin Note: If you have any news-related updates on this case, please contact us here: amwfans.com/thread/1662/website-contact-form

A lot of factors demonstrate Abrego's threat to society, such as threatening to kill both of them in a car crash during his loud tirade, stalking Bowie after their breakup, and strangling her in a jealous rage just because she refused to take him back. Abrego really refused to believe the truth that Bowie wasn't sleeping with her friend (the same man who told her not to take Abrego back), so I have this strange fear that when Abrego goes to court, he'll express no remorse. In fact, my intuition tells me he'll say something like "The two-timing sl** wouldn't do what I told her!" to the prosecutors and Bowie's family. The only silver lining in such a callous scenario is that Georgia has a good habit of sentencing murderers to life, and the judge would give him no chance of parole, and there'd be no chance he could ever kill again.

Well said. Bowie's family had to take the death penalty off the table if Abrego is captured in Mexico. But I hope it's still an option in the rare likelihood that he's captured in the states.

Found Abrego on a Cobb County Most Wanted listing. However, their website has not been timestamped since 2015. Since I haven't found any recent updates otherwise though, I feel it is reasonably safe to assume that Abrego is still at large as of this update (7/22/2018). Of course, if anyone has any updates/proof-of-updates one way or the other, they are always more than welcome to let us know.

I didn't find anything by typing down the last name followed by the first name, but because his last name may be hyphenated I don't know if that's causing search result issues. ctsearch.cobbsuperiorcourtclerk.com/Name?edit=true

Confirmed Abrego was at least still wanted as of August 1st, 2018 as Elizabeth Bowie's parents wrote an op-ed in the Atlanta Journal-Constitution about our nation's broken immigration system. I feel their article was fair and well-written and in theory should not offend either side of the debate as they seem to simply be calling for an end to political and overall inaction on the issue. (I believe that there needs to be action on both sides of the issue- non-criminal illegal aliens who have been here for decades as law-abiding citizens/dreamers here through no fault of their own need to have a system in place to protect them while there also needs to be a better way of keeping criminal illegal aliens out and deporting criminal illegal aliens and/or illegal aliens who commit crimes in the U.S.). I can't imagine what Elizabeth's parents are going through. She was beloved enough by people who she only knew a short-while it seems, let alone them. I hope one day Abrego against all odds can be captured one day. www.ajc.com/news/opinion/opinion-our-daughter-was-victim-broken-immigration-system/2rYsWiL2ODslriGCHGp3eP/

I have to imagine there are a lot of families in similar situations as the Bowies, with relatives allegedly murdered by illegal immigrants who have fled back to Latin America. This would not consist of the majority of illegal immigrants, but I still have to imagine it's a large overall number of cases. Hopefully one day Juan can be caught and face a court of law for the murder of Elizabeth Bowie. From being the 2nd ever member of his forum nearly six years ago, I've seen numerous examples where it ends up taking a lot more time to happen than it really should.

One promising sign or hopeful sign is I'm seeing additional photos of Abrego in previews, if i recall correctly, part of the difficulty in capturing Abrego in the past, aside from his almost certainty going overseas, was that there was at the time of his AMW-airing at least, only one photo of him.

Abrego was In Pursuit with John Walsh's chosen fugitive for their weekly Fugitive Friday series on Facebook. (See the show's July 27th, 2019 status updates). They mention je has specifically been spotted in Guerrero and La Cueva in Mexico.

If ID Discovery’s Español/Latin American variant has a separate FB page in spanish, then it may be worth it to profile Juan Abrego there as well.
