Leon Todd Jones was a web-exclusive case on AMW's old website. Below is the archive case description of his alleged crimes:
Man Wanted For Teen's Abuse
Police say that when Leon Todd Jones began spending time with a young female relative, he gave the impression that he was nothing but kind, friendly, and compassionate. Cops say that the teenager went to church with Jones and spent some quality time with his family.
However, police say that the familial fairy tale turned ugly as the girl began to witness Jones' unusual behavior.
Police say that Jones took his relative on a day trip to the mall during one of her visits in April of 2001. They say that he drove to the shopping center, parked his car behind a store, and demanded that she remove her bra.
Police say the girl resisted the assault as Jones lowered her seat, attempted to kiss her, and put his hands down her pants. The girl managed to free herself from and ran into the mall. She eventually returned to Jones but was able to send her mother a coded message because Jones wouldn't let her call home.
When the girl's mom arrived to collect her daughter, she went to the police. An investigation was launched and detectives say that Child Protective Services soon discovered that Jones had abused two other children and that the sexual assault had gone on for years.
Jones denied all allegations and even agreed to a polygraph test, but he never showed. Authorities say that Jones quit his job on November 8, 2001 and left instructions to have his check mailed to an address in Puerto Rico.
A month later, law enforcement discovered that Jones and his girlfriend were living in Trinidad with their two girls. In January of 2002, detectives contacted Jones by phone and he agreed to fly to Puerto Rico to turn himself in on February 3. Once again, he never showed up.
Now, police believe that Leon Todd Jones may be living in Puerto Rico or Trinidad. He may still be in the company of his girlfriend and their two children who would now be 9 and 6-years-old.
Thoughts? First of all, an update, albeit from five years ago. Jones was confirmed to be living in Trinidad in February of 2010. Extradition proceedings began on February 2nd of that year, but he once again went into hiding.
As far as today, I don't see anything suggesting Jones has finally been captured or extradited as of this posting date. (6/24/2015). If anyone has proof he has been, please feel free to let us know. Jones is potentially in countries where I feel he'd stand out, so keep a vigilant eye if you're reading this and plan on going to any vacations in the Caribbean this summer.
