It's possible he's not far. And Deborah Scott's murder did happen a month after Bishop allegedly murdered his family.
Many top tenners such as Bishop, Brown, and Robert Fisher get tips from all over the globe. Unfortunately so far for all three it's been false hopes and/or look-a-likes. All it takes is that one legitimate tip though.

I really doubt the Bishop case will ever be solved. I hate to think he will never be brought to justice and we will never know what happened to him, but this case is as cold as it gets.

I hate saying this, especially since I know how passionate toptenhunter is about this case, but I unfortunately tend to agree with you, and I'm usually a pretty optimistic guy in these cases no matter how bleak the circumstances seem.
The only way I see this case getting solved is similar to Donald Webb, via the found deceased and/or confirmed route, but this case is even colder, and my fear is he died some random vagabond somewhere where it would be virtually impossible to know it's him.

Not to mention much effort has been expended looking for him in Europe when there is really no evidence he was ever there, other than Roy Harrell's made-up sighting and two other questionable sightings. If he is still alive he is probably somewhere like Toledo, Ohio.

And as mentioned before, for all we know, Bishop could have died in those woods in North Carolina. No way his body would ever be recovered if that's the case.

We speculate that his personality wouldn't suggest suicide but what do we really know? No one ever suspected he would kill his family either.

The Bishop Case is very tricky, since he’s someone that can fit anywhere, he had the means to be able to travel to a different country and start all over. There is also a statement on Wikipedia that they believe Bishop may be in California or Switzerland and could be working as a school teacher or be involved in criminal activities, but as to what that is it’s beyond me.

There’s also a good possibility that Bishop may live in Botswana, where he got his amateur pilots license. The reason I bring up this possibility is that I was rereading some books into Botswana’s history and they were pro-western and fairly neutral during the conflicts of the 1970s.
This neutrality went as far as to securing their borders really well and prohibiting guerilla armies from Mozambique and South Africa to operate in Botswana.
Also Bishop has plenty of space to camp, hike or even take a little walk and there’s plenty of rural areas, but the problem is that we don’t have an extradition treaty with Botswana.

I remember James Bruno stating that Bishop liked to read a book on former Chinese communist Mao Zedong or something about a book written by Mao and It makes me wonder if Bishop is hiding out in Mainland China.
There were reports in 2010 that he probably died in Hong Kong but that was proven false. Then the other possible location is Botswana (I’ve stated above why) as it’s the last place he was stationed abroad before being recalled to Washington in 1974.
Just think it’s interesting we’ve never noticed China or Africa as possible locations.

Okay from this article, here are some never before known details of the case before and after the murders. • Bishop was in Geneva, Switzerland from Late January to Early February 1976, so it’s BEFORE the murders. • In 1990 someone used Bishop’s social security number in Los Angeles, California, but turns out it wasn’t him. • In 2010 they staked out at a home owned by Bishop’s uncle because a man resembling Brad was coming in and out of the house only to find out that it’s Bishop’s cousin. www.bethesdamagazine.com/Bethesda-Magazine/May-June-2013/Bradford-Bishop-Murders/?cparticle=2&siarticle=1

I decided to post on here with regards to the dilemma of this case, clearly it took investigators 38 years to add Brad Bishop to the FBI Top Ten List as a 77 year old man, Donald Webb in contrast was removed at the age of 76 and located at the age of 86 (if alive)
My opinion has shifted from time to time, but at that time I felt like this was a wonderful move on the FBI’s part and I sorta still feel that way since Bishop was said to be “the most celebrated fugitive amongst the FBI Ten Most Wanted List”, which puts him on par with Jason Brown and Yaser Said.
As optimistic as I am and as much as I want to see Brad Bishop either caught or found dead as a Top Ten Fugitive, I realize now that this case would one day have to be bumped off the Top Ten in favor of someone more deserving. He’s already 81 turning 82 in August of this year, so the amount of time we have to take him into custody is quickly running out, and finding him dead may be our only hope, but then again after Donald Webb I’ve realized the Top Ten List isn’t needed to bring in Bishop dead, but it’s good that during the last nearly 4 years that he has managed to attract some new people into reading about this case, into sleuthing and bring in more curious people to learn more about the Ten Most Wanted List.
It may have been a controversial addition but let’s hope something happens in 2018 for better or for worse.

It just occurred to me, I mentioned on here not that long ago that bishop had family in France. What if they are to know something everyone else doesn’t know?

He has family in a few places who could theoretically know something, not just France. Canada and California seem to be the two places most highlighted.
