(Above photo credit: vosizneias.com) Fugitive Profile as of August 9th, 2014: (based on FBI.gov profile) Aliases: Andreas San Diego, D. Andreas San Diego, "Andreas" Date(s) of Birth Used: February 9, 1978 Place of Birth: Berkeley, California Height: 6'0" (1.80 m) Weight: 160 pounds (73 Kg) Hair: Brown Eyes: Brown Complexion: Light Sex: Male Race: White Citizenship: American Scars and Marks: San Diego has the following tattoos: a round image of burning hillsides in the center of his chest with the words "It only takes a spark" printed in a semicircle below; burning and collapsing buildings on the sides of his abdomen and back; and a single leafless tree rising from a road in the center of his lower back. These tattoos may have been significantly altered or covered with new tattoos. Remarks: San Diego has ties to animal rights extremist groups. He is known to follow a vegan diet, eating no meat or food containing animal products. In the past, he has worked as a computer network specialist and with the operating system LINUX. San Diego wears eyeglasses, is skilled at sailing, and has traveled internationally. He is known to possess a handgun. Who to call if you've seen him: 1-800-CALL-FBI or submit a web tip to tips.fbi.gov There is a $250,000 reward for information leading to San Diego's captureDaniel San Diego is wanted by the FBI for two acts of domestic terrorism. He was aired eight times on AMW between 2003 and 2011. On Aug 28, 2003, San Diego had two bombs detonate at the Chiron Corporation in Emeryville, California. The second bomb in incident was designed to target first responders. On Sep 26, 2003, a bomb created by San Diego detonated at the Shaklee Corporation in Pleasantion, California. The bomb contained nails which would have at least severely injured anyone who came in contact with them after the bomb exploded. A group called the Animal Liberation Brigade claimed responsibility for both attacks. San Diego has ties to this group. The companies were targeted because of their ties to Huntington Life Sciences. Authorities had 24-hour surveillance on San Diego right after the bombings. On Oct 6, 2003, he parked his car in San Francisco, walked away and never returned. Agents found bomb making materials in the car's trunk which were very easy to obtain (at least many of the materials could be purchased at a local hardware store). In 1988, San Diego began to associate with Animal Rights groups which caused his motivation to commit the 2003 bombings. Most recently in 2011, tips placed San Diego in Massachusetts. Thoughts? I don't feel that San Diego necessarily fled the US after going on the run or at least until the 2011 tips. He would have too many supporters that didn't feel like he did anything wrong and wouldn't give him up. His FBI poster mentions he has traveled internationally however so anything is possible. www.fbi.gov/wanted/wanted_terrorists/daniel-andreas-san-diegoen.wikipedia.org/wiki/Daniel_Andreas_San_Diegowww.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/northamerica/5217035/Animal-rights-activist-added-to-FBIs-most-wanted-terrorist-list.htmlwww.slate.com/blogs/crime/2013/05/06/daniel_andreas_san_diego_the_alleged_eco_terrorist_who_had_a_vegan_marshmallow.htmlAdmin Note: If you have any news-related updated information on this case, please contact us here: amwfans.com/thread/1662/website-contact-form

I agree that although he ironically shares the same last name as a video game based on a fictional international fugitive, he is likely still in the states. However, I could see him in Canada since some members of the Animal Liberation Front are from there (still on the run fugitives Joseph Dibee and Josephine Overaker and Rebecca Rubin who turned herself in). Also, we agree AMW tips are not always credible, but I get a feeling the Massachusetts sightings were. I still feel Daniel San Diego has a decent chance of making the FBI's 10 Most Wanted list one day, being he seems capable of another attack. The arguments against that would of course be that he is already on the Most Wanted Terrorists list and/or no one died from his bombings, which could have but thankfully didn't happen.

I believe there were statements made by the FBI after Bin Laden was killed that another terrorist wouldn't likely make the list. However he was only replaced by Eric Toth in 2012 so perhaps the perspectives of the Bureau have changed since then. There were far more terrorists added in the 1990s (5 counting Bin Laden) and that was before the Bureau had a separate list for terrorists. With that in mind I doubt San Diego will be added to the Most Wanted List anytime soon.

I don't have the utmost confidence he would be added, but he'd be a wild-card if I were to make a top 10 prediction thread like I did on the old forum. (off-topic but I currently feel there is too much of a crapshoot and no one stands out to make an educated prediction list that would have even a chance of accuracy. If you recall, on the old amw.com forums, I had Fidel Urbina as a wild-card and got it right. )

This case is just so frustrating to me. Daniel San Diego, in theory, shouldn't be that hard to capture. Yet he's been on the run for 10 years and the FBI doesn't seem any closer to finding him.
Part of me wonders if maybe he's settled down and has a family of his own by now. He's probably living a quiet life somewhere where nobody suspects that he's a wanted domestic terrorist. He's got a very "average Joe" look to him, which can easily help him blend in. I'll be honest; he kind of looks like my cousin who lives in San Francisco (except my cousin has been balding for quite some time and wears thicker glasses).
Here's an interesting piece of trivia; Daniel San Diego's story is one of the few I've seen on AMW where the show had to issue an on-air retraction. In his original December 2003 profile, AMW claimed Shaklee tested their products on animals. I'm guessing AMW must have gotten some nasty phone calls from Shaklee's legal department, since in March 2004 the show profiled San Diego again, this time only mentioning the Chiron bombing. After the story, John Walsh said something like, "As it turns out, Shaklee does not test their products on animals. So this guy can't even get his facts straight."
Most of San Diego's profiles afterwards had the Shaklee portion completely cut out of the broadcast, but during the "Ones That Got Away" rerun in September 2007, they aired his original profile, complete with the error intact! In December, AMW aired San Diego as an APB fugitive, but before Walsh began describing him, they showed Shaklee and he said the following; "The Shaklee Corporation, one of the companies that San Diego is accused of bombing, does not test their products on animals." It was so completely random that it had to have been the result of a complaint.
Thankfully by the time San Diego's next profile aired, AMW actually went in and re-edited the original profile so now John Walsh says "The bomber next targeted the Shaklee Corporation, who he mistakenly believed tested their products on animals. Shaklee does not."
On the plus side, at least it meant San Diego got a ton of profiles!

An update: San Diego may have been spotted in Santa Cruz, California. The articles below mention that over the years the FBI has received numerous tips allegedly placing him in Novato, California; San Rafael, California; Santa Cruz, California; and Northampton, Massachusetts. Aside from the northern California region, he has overseas ties to Germany, Spain, France, Italy, Costa Rica, and Bolivia. If overseas, he may possess documentation allowing him residency but may not be fluent in a foreign language. Also below is a few old photos on top of artist renderings based on what San Diego may look like if he changed his appearance: santacruz.patch.com/groups/police-and-fire/p/terrorist-possibly-spotted-in-santa-cruz-fbi-report-sayswww.santacruzsentinel.com/santacruz/ci_24713574/fbi-accused-bomber-may-have-santa-cruz-ties

The FBI has received what they feel is a credible tip on San Diego and surprisingly it's not anywhere previously mentioned- Hawaii. Agents from the Honolulu and San Francisco offices of the FBI are canvassing selected areas, including Pahoa and Puna islands, looking for information about the San Diego's whereabouts. According to an official he may or may not actually be in Hawaii, but they are taking the lead seriously out of genuine concern for local residents. westhawaiitoday.com/community-bulletin/fbi-searching-alleged-terrorist-puna

Interesting developments, I'm glad that they're taking this lead seriously though. San Diego has been on the run for too long.

Daniel San Diego is basically the little guy in a big league which is the FBI's most wanted terrorist list, he's so underrated for that list and him on the top ten list makes it just right but anyways he has been on the run 12 years which is hard to believe and it's been 2 years since they said he was in Hawaii and still he isn't caught and he does have supporters too which is one reason why he won't be added and he didn't kill anyone which is fortunate thing about this case unless the FBI gets very desperate to capture him then I'd see him land a spot on the Top Ten sometime soon, but also at the same time I am not condoning his actions of destroying property, I'm for protecting the animals and environment but it's not a good way to get the message across either. Also this has so much in common with Jason Derek Brown in a way if you disagree? He looks average like Brown, he's also another Long timer like Brown and finally he's sorta hard to track down like Brown.

I guess San Diego is similar to Brown in that both are from California and both probably don't come across as wanted fugitives if you were to meet them face to face.
I'm a huge animal lover (this might be wrong and is really really off-topic, but when after I watched 'Making A Murder' part of me thought to myself- F Steven Avery- I don't care if he's innocent- he f-ing killed a cat once- just to give an example of how passionate I am). However, there is no excuse for what San Diego allegedly did- it's possible to protest without violence- and one of the places he allegedly blew up- Shaklee Coroporation- DOES NOT test on animals.
HeadMarshal mentioned earlier the FBI basically said that they probably wouldn't add another terrorist after Bin Laden. I think basically the feeling is there's now an exclusive wanted list for terrorists anyway so there's no reason to. But who knows. Occasionally there are additions like Brad Bishop's that surprise everybody.
