An Emerson man was charged with attempted murder after he stabbed another man at a party over the weekend, police said.
Sgt. Lawrence Schwarz said police were called to a house at 58 Jefferson Ave. about 4:40 p.m. Saturday on a report of a dispute involving a stabbing.
Officers found a man identified as (name removed), 31, of Paterson, who had multiple stab and slash wounds to the lower abdomen. Officers applied pressure to the wounds to control bleeding until an ambulance arrived, Schwarz said.
Others at the party gave officers a description of the man who they said had argued with Sanchez, then stabbed him with an 8-inch kitchen knife.
Schwarz said officers searched the neighborhood and found the suspect across the street in woods behind the Westwood Community Center. He was identified as Guillermo Santos, 31, of an unknown address in Emerson. The knife was found in an alley near the house, the sergeant said.
Santos was charged with attempted murder, aggravated assault, and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose. He was arraigned Wednesday with the help of a Spanish-speaking interpreter and sent to the Bergen County Jail, Hackensack, on $100,000 bail.
Schwarz said the nature of the dispute that sparked the stabbing remains unclear.
Based on investigating agencies, it is advised to contact the Bergen County Sheriff's Office at (201) 646-2222 if you have any information on Guillermo Santos's whereabouts.

Thoughts? The archived article mentioned the name of the attempted murder victim, but I removed that name in case he didn't want his name issued. Guillermo might have scars on the side of his face that was wounded in my opinion.
