I was listening to my favorite radio show, the Opie and Anthony show, and they discussed one of my favorite faux paus that occurred a few years ago. On the Aftershow, with Sam Roberts and Jim Norton, they had John Walsh as a guest. While Walsh was coming in, Sam accidently referred to him as Adam Walsh, and was quickly corrected. John wasn't offended or anything and was great throughout the entire interview, but I always found it amusing. Yesterday, when it was mentioned, Jim told Sam, "You could've accidently called him Hitler, and it would've been less offensive." Hahaha that's funny. I think I've heard John accidentally referred to Adam from people before, but of course John Walsh is by all accounts a real nice guy in real life who wouldn't have gotten mad over it. It sucks since Opie and Anthony is now only available on satellite in New York. I used to listen to them when they were on regular radio until they changed the format of the station they were on and thus got rid of them. Part of me was hopeful you meant Walsh was on the radio recently. But still a funny story.

California is going through it's worst drought in 100 years. California is only now setting up desalination plants. The Middle East and North Africa have already did this. What is wrong with this picture, lol.

What is wrong with this picture, lol. Weird weather year for the U.S. so far, polar vortexes all over and droughts in Cali! And there is yet ANOTHER polar vortex possibly coming. It's like the Hangover Part III- a really unnecessary sequel we're going to have to unfortunately deal with: nypost.com/2014/01/17/north-braces-for-polar-vortex-2-0/

I'm just posting here because this is my 1000th post! I feel overall that being a member here has been very worthwhile. Congrats on the milestone! You have almost as many posts as AMW had captures so that is impressive.

My Super Bowl prediction is Denver over Seattle. I accidentally posted that in the suggestions for forums link, LOL. OK, we don't know what the result will be, but look at that, I got the two Super Bowl teams right!

Not being a sports fan myself, I'm actually looking forward to the commercials more than the game itself. Though last year I wasn't too impressed with any of the commercials, so I'm not really setting the bar high this year.

Got slammed with a double shift at work so I'll skim but won't be able to fully reply to any threads, or vote for the capture contest or anything else until tomorrow morning at the earliest. So if you ever see me online but not replying to anything don't take it personally. Probably just too busy to adequately respond.

I just bought this book called the Encyclopedia of the FBI's Ten Most Wanted fugitives. It's a little outdated, since it stops at 2004, but it gave a lot of details about fugitives I had no idea about, especially the early ones. There are two facts that are AMW-related that I never knew before reading this:
1. Ronald Lee Lyons, a bank robber serving time in the 70's, was added to the list after he escaped during a trip to a bowling alley with other prisoners. One of the prisoners he escaped with was Larry Chism.
2. Around the time he was arrested in Mexico, Glen Godwin allegedly put out a hit on his ex-wife Shelley, right before she was captured. She divorced him when he was caught and claimed that he forced her to help him escape.
It's a shame it stopped so early, but it was a great read nonetheless.

One of the prisoners he escaped with was Larry Chism. That is actually really fascinating. Back when I first became an AMW viewer in January 2007 and looked through the amw.com fugitive profile listings, Chism was one of the first cases I really became interested in.

You know what's even more fascinating? During Chism's reenactment, while the cons have hijacked the plane, one of the men says, "Larry, we've got to land soon! The man said he's almost out of fuel." Chism's response? "I know what he said, Lyons!"
Had no idea that Ronald Lee Lyons was in that reenactment! AMW never mentioned his full name, but it's a fun little "Easter Egg" for those who are familiar with the case.

So I am behind the times in technology sometimes. I had a Blackberry until last year as my phone for example. Today I finally got an HDTV. (I know, I know, but the picture was still good on my giant old one, lol). What's cool about it is I can now plug an HDMI cable into my laptop. Which means I can play old AMW YouTube clips on my tv now! It's not the same as the show being back, and I wish I actually saved the episodes back in the days I would tape them, but it's still pretty cool to watch some old AMW on my television and feels like almost old times!
Hopefully this tides me over until May when John Walsh's new show hopefully debuts!

Sick and feeling like crap. May not be quick to reply to threads the next few days. This is really annoying since my entire life I've always been pretty healthy but the last few years not as much. I don't know if it's me not feeling well or what but I also had a bizarre dream last night that Jason Derek Brown was arrested in Talladega. I don't know if this proves AMW and/or Will Ferrell is on my mind too much, but I think it does prove I need to get better.

I was feeling a bit under the weather a couple weeks ago myself. And like you, I also have a really good immune system. It was really scary, too. I woke up at about 6 a.m. and felt like I had phlegm caught in my throat. I literally couldn't breath, and when I put my finger in my mouth I could feel my uvula. I was about to call 911 and request an ambulance, but then I took a few deep breaths and waited for a little bit. I felt a little better, but talking was really difficult so I called in sick to work and scheduled a doctor's appointment. He put me on Amoxicillin and I was well enough to return to work the next day. I'm perfectly fine now, but that was about the scariest thing I've ever experienced.
Feel better soon!
