Also the attorney general in Pennsylvania in 2022 Josh Shapiro was as well all know elected governor before he governor he was attorney general he appointed a temporary one to fill out the remainder of his term she decided not to seek reelection anyway the 2024 election was between gop candidate and York county da David Sunday jr and former Pennsylvania auditor general Eugene depasquale and Sunday won by at least 4 points which is the first gop attorney general since 2015 hopefully he does a good job at least he was a district attorney so maybe he won't do bad who knows

In unrelated political news, George Gascon and Pamela Price were both defeated in their elections to keep their county DA position. I do think that their views of being “progressive prosecutors” have significant issues, the same way as the “tough on crime prosecutors” have significant issues with their policies. Being convicted of a felony should have consequences, and there are times when juveniles do need to be charged as adult. At the same time, the viewpoint that justice is based on how many convictions you get and the harshest penalties you can apply at sentencing has been well documented as far as condemning defendants to LWOP or death if the case against them is circumstantial (meaning there is reasonable doubt to a defendant’s guilt). I do think there is a fair way of applying consequences to those convicted of felonies that is done without bias or discrimination, and does not need the death penalty in a civilized democracy. Also wanted to highlight this- I still think crime is down across the country but some of it may be misleading because of statistical reporting. Bail reform was a good idea in theory- minorities were spending years in jail for petty marijuana crimes but the execution of bail reform is terrible where you can just punch someone in the face and get out of jail a couple of hours later or not even just go through the booking process and get immediately released four hours later. Democrats and Republicans can work together to establish a bail reform system that balances the line better between petty and worse offenders however they seem to have no ability to want to right now. Here in NYC a lot of our stores have closed due to rampant theft and the shoplifters knowing if they get arrested they’ll be back out on the street a few hours later anyway. You can’t blame Covid for that, that’s a liberal policy. It’s not that I’m thrilled Trump got elected but in retrospect liberals do need to take a look in the mirror. They have become as elitist as they claim the GOP is.

Thinking about the Putin & Xi geopolitical threat more, I remembered Putin likely isn't in as good of health as Xi. If Putin succumbs to Parkinson's Disease or any condition he might have at a time when United Statish military power gets splintered, it'll extinguish his own personal delusions of reviving the Russian Empire. The rest of the Kremlin will instantly run out of motivation to throw soldiers at Ukraine, and the Kremlin would have to either shift their geopolitical focus or try to pick up the pieces on their home land. In that case, Xi would be left in the dirty geopolitical business alone.

www.localsyr.com/news/your-stories/i-misspoke-americas-most-wanted-host-john-walsh-said-hell-vote-in-ny-22-race/Now that the elections for the most part are over, I did want to weigh in on a couple of things. 1) Not a surprise Harris lost, she was dealt a tough hand by her boss and was tied to an unpopular adminstration over immigration and inflation but she did the best she could and contrast to what the numbers are showing for Biden, did better then he would have done. 2) As others have said, I'm all for programs that reduce recivism/crime but bail reform needs to be tweaked so people who punch someone in the face/shoplift etc. aren't out on the streets the same day. As Scumhunter said, anger at stuff like this is why we saw blue state voters stay home or swing to Trump. 3) Last but not least, as painful as this is to say, John Walsh made himself look like a fool in my neck of the woods with the NY22 Congressional Race with him allowing the America's Most Wanted logo/music (with Fox's permission) to support the Republican incumbent Brandon Williams. The ad was nasty and over the top towards Democrats and their voters as well as against John Mannion, the Democratic candidate in the race. It also stated that he would vote for Brandon when he wasn't eligable to do so (he has a home in the area but lives in FL) and when he was called out on it, he claimed he misspoke just like Tim Walz did. It wasn't a good look for him at all and like I said, it sucks to say that because he has done so much to help kids/criminal justice issues but him rallying for Williams who was an unlikeable person in so many ways left a bitter taste in many people's mouths, including mine. Worst part is it was all for nothing. With the way the district was redrawn, Williams had no chance of winning. John participated in partisan politics for nothing.

I love JW but he always struck me as like a moderate common sense republican- he even once criticizes republican’s refusal to do anything about gun control reform- and openly worked with both Democratic and Republican Presidents and of course had that interview with President Obama on AMW- and it hurt me to see him support such an extreme candidate as Brandon Williams. Unfortunately the saying that once you get older you get more conservative sort of rings true here.
I hope this is just because he was from his area and he just didn’t like the other candidate (controversies over where he actually lived to endorse anyone aside).
But yeah ngl I was disappointed, he gets a pass from me for all the great work he’s done (if it was any other celebrity I’m not sure how I’d react) but it was disappointing.

Even though I try to keep up with politics I have to admit I mostly pay attention to the Senate races and the affairs in my home states of North Carolina and Florida but I have heard of Brandon Williams don't know much about him though
