Don't know if you guys were aware, but tomorrow, February 7th, 1998 will mark 25 years since AMW made it's debut! That first show of course led to the capture of FBI top tenner David James Roberts, and over 1200 criminals for the next quarter-century. It's quite odd when they show clips of that first show. John Walsh was obviously nervous. Now he's calling guys scumbags left and right, which is why we love him. I would love for this to be the day AMW announces their return, but even if they don't, they deserve a pat on the back. 25 great years indeed! washingtonexaminer.com/crime-history-americas-most-wanted-makes-television-debut/article/2520745

I just hope AMW Facebook acknowledges this milestone.

Hope so too. Of course, it will just be followed by "congrats... now when is the show coming? back posts" but still it's significant.

I figured I'd bump this up rather than make a new thread to once again mark the anniversary of the debut of AMW. It has now been 26 years since the show debuted. Obviously, John Walsh looks to have moved on to a new venture, but it is still important to note what started it all! www.tvmediainsights.com/highlights/40016/friday-february-7-2014/

Now 27 years since AMW debuted but since the show's been cancelled since the end of October 2012, really the 27th anniversary of John Walsh chasing bad guys.

Happy Anniversary, AMW! I still wish there was some way the first episode could be made available to us AMW fans. I would LOVE to see it!

Me too. You can tell how nervous Walsh was just by the beginning clip introducing David James Roberts. Now he's calling guys scumbags left and right with no hesitation!

I was reading one of John Walsh's books where they said he didn't start calling them "scumbags" until after the show's 1996 cancellation. The executives at Fox at the time apparently were more lenient with him Even looking at the 1996 episodes of the show that are available on YouTube, John still seems nervous.

Maybe it was jitters from coming back. But yeah that book was No Mercy probably. Because I read it and remember him talking about Eddie James and how if he had profiled him after 1996 he would have been a lot more vocal about how much he hated him than he was in the early 90's when he reported in a more matter-of-fact way.

I was actually referring to the pre-cancellation episodes

Oh, I guess he never felt at ease until he was allowed to call guys scumbags then LOL

Now 30 years since AMW's debut!
Of course now 5 years since ultimate cancellation but still a cool milestone of when it was on the air!
