(Above photo credit: amw.com archives) Lawrence Pusateri escaped from a hospital 40 years ago. He was aired on AMW in 2009 and 2010. On Oct 3, 1971, Denver rookie police officer Daril Cinquanta saw two women and a man inside a vehicle. He asked the man to get out. That man who claimed to be Luis Archuleta, then shot Daril in the stomach and fled. While Daril was recovering from his injuries, authorities learned that the shooter was really Lawrence Pusateri, a California prison escapee. After shooting Daril, Lawrence was arrested in Mexico on drug charges and deported back to the United States. In 1973, Lawrence was sent to the Colorado State Penitentiary. On Aug 15, 1974, Lawrence faked an illness and was sent to a hospital in Pueblo. When he got there, he and another inmate got a gun and were able to escape. Lawrence has been on the run ever since. Thoughts? Lawrence would be around 71 years old by now, so he's probably still alive. A few years after he escaped, he was spotted in San Jose, California, but was never seen again. According to the amw.com profile, he tries to blend in with the Hispanic community, which is why he could still be in California, but since he fled to there once, Mexico is another possibility. web.archive.org/web/20100819063049/http://www.amw.com/fugitives/brief.cfm?id=68327Admin Note #1: Based on location of escape, our advice for anyone with information on Pusateri's whereabouts would be to contact the Colorado DOC fugitive tip line at 1-866-873-6305Admin Note #2: If you have any news-related updates on this case, please contact us here: amwfans.com/thread/1662/website-contact-form

I really have nothing to add since I think your assessment is on the money. I just can't believe that we hadn't covered him on our site yet! I would have assumed we already did if not for the thread today!

I think that since he's been on the run for so long that Pusateri should be an excellent addition suggestion for the FBI'S TOP 10 Most Wanted List.

I don't think Pusateri would be a candidate now given the fact that Bishop was on it for a more recent case, and there were barely any credible sightings of him during the time he was on the list.

Not to mention while not excusing his alleged crimes there are pre-2000s fugitives wanted for double triple homicides etc... if the FBI wanted to risk a cold case on the list again.

Since we bumped him up anyway just wanted to officially reflect that considering this is a relatively high-profile case that it seems pretty obviously safe to assume that Pusateri ia still at large as of this update (7/27/2018).

Something interesting I found. Lawrence was actually featured on a playing card set the FBI did in 1993 that featured various featured fugitives that they were looking for. Since the FBI appears to have been involved in this case for some time, just maybe if they got AMW to air it during the early-mid 90s, Lawrence would been caught. www.tradingcarddb.com/Checklist.cfm/sid/109518/1993-Federal-Wanted-By-FBI

I remember this case, oh how it takes me back to the 2009/2010 days. I think he could be in Mexico given how much time has gone by, I feel he could have been in California initially, but went to Mexico sometime after.
Now the point of him being a good candidate for the FBI top ten list, I would have to say I disagree, since Pusateri would be 75/6 years old as of this posting (07/30/18), it would essentially be like adding another Bishop, though not excusing either individuals crimes either, I think the FBI could add other cold case fugitives from the 1990s or 2000s, that would be better fits for the top ten list.
