AKRON, Ohio (WJW) — Akron police are searching for a 23-year-old driver who they say killed a bicyclist in a hit-and-run crash last month.
David Farren, 23, of Akron, is described as a white man standing about 6-foot-4 and weighing about 188 pounds, with brown hair, hazel eyes and a tattoo on his right arm, according to a news release.
A warrant is out for his arrest on a charge of aggravated vehicular homicide in the Feb. 9 crash that killed 47-year-old Jimmy Fletcher. It happened at about 4 p.m. near the intersection of South Arlington and Ray Streets, according to authorities.
Investigators believe Fletcher was traveling north on South Arlington Street on his electric bicycle when he was struck by a sedan turning onto Ray Street.
Officers found Fletcher on the ground, unconscious. He was transported to a local hospital, where he later died of his injuries, according to authorities.
Investigators tracked the car to Ashtabula. It was towed back to Akron on Thursday, according to an update from police.
Authorities are now searching for Farren. Anyone with information is urged to call Akron detectives at 330-375-2490 or 330-375-2TIP (330-375-2847).
