I was the one who suggested this case. Anyway, I'm quite pleased to see him put on the list along with fellow sex-killers Alexis Flores and Fidel "Tonorio" Urbina.

Guevara is now on the FBI's top 10 list. Good call Derek!

P.S. My bad I was ediiting this thread confused and thinking it was Derek's potential contender thread and didn't read carefully enough through the first post. I finally realized it was a new thread posted by ja2013. I was going crazy since I could have sworn I posted in Derek's original thread. So my bad. Good call Derek on the prediction and good job Ja on the scoop!

I meant to follow the title sequence but forgot, thanks for the fix . Anyways, I'm glad the newest people aren't cold cases but unfortunately they both are believed to fled the US so that will be more challenging to find them. Exciting day today see these both added, I'm wondering if the FBI is planning on doing their big publicity thing for the 500th fugitive as they said. That is quite the milestone but it only seems a few big time news stations have posted about these guys, hopefully more as the day progresses.

Good choice. Here's hoping he goes down as quickly as Edwin Gracias did.

I don't know about you guys but I'm getting sick and tired of the U.S. having to cowtow to other countries' demands when it comes to fugitives. Its like sure as long as its just a slap on the wrist we'll extradite him.
Like Fidel Urbina, Jose Guevara is a danger because he has huge potential for re-offense if he hasn't already. Rapists for the most part are highly likely to strike again compared to othee types of criminals.
Still, second degree murder is better than nothing.

The Manhunt Monday series on Slate.com talks about Guevara today. It's a good read, although they seem to think he's far less dangerous than we do. I did find it amusing when they made fun of how he always has a crappy American beer in his hand in his photos though: www.slate.com/blogs/crime/2013/06/24/most_wanted_monday_jose_manuel_garcia_guevara_the_alleged_rapist_with_a.htmlP.S. About this whole downgraded to second degree murder so he can be extradited thing- Let's just assume for arguments sake- and as the article says this is highly unlikely- he does go back to the states and gets captured in say, Texas. Would the prosecuting attorneys in the case then be able to upgrade the charges back to first degree murder since he wasn't caught in Mexico after all? Curious if anyone knows the answer to that.

Fidel Urbina's article was much more sensationalized imo (they referred to him as "scarface".) Honestly, I feel the best publicity on Guevara will come out of Mexican media outlets since San Luis Potosi state isn't even on the US-Mexico border, unlike say Ciudad Juarez.

Well, that didn't take too long, now did it? Glad to see he's been caught! The funny thing is, I was going to feature him on my Facebook page as part of my Fugitive of the Day feature next week! Guess that won't be happening now

Yes! My 10th Most Wanted Fugitive of 2013 is now in custody, back in the United States. Amazing capture!

Not surprised he was captured this fast as he really didn't seem to be too hard to spot and/or a criminal mastermind. What I'm also really happy about is it clears up a spot on the Top 10 List. I'm going to clamor for Yaser Said over and over until the day they finally add him!
