Roger and his wife Kelly Jones are wanted in connection with a 1992 murder in Kansas. They were aired as BOLO alert cases in 2011. On April 13, 1992, a survey crew found the body of 25-year old Patrick Howe on a roadside ditch just west of Dodge City, Kansas. An investigation determined that Patrick was beaten and strangled to death and that the murder took place at the motel where he worked. The motel was run by Roger and Kelly Jones, Roger had met Patrick in Colorado and brought him to Dodge City to help manage his motel. Roger however had a penchant for violence and for being a control freak. Investigators believed that Roger killed Patrick in a rage when Patrick told Roger that he wanted to move in with family in Oklahoma. Arrest warrants were issued in 1996 when investigators had enough evidence to charge Roger and Kelly in connection with the murder. Over the years, investigators have tracked Roger across the Western and Southern United States. Kelly on the other hand has never come up in a single lead. Thoughts? By looking at Roger Jones, knowing his tendency for violence and had a lack of a single Kelly sighting, it's likely Roger killed his wife after going on the run. The reasons could either be that Kelly didn't want to go on the run or Roger saw his wife as a liability. The good news is that there have been sightings of Roger as recent as early 2010 (according to the archived current website). So even though he would be around 64 by now, there's still hope that he'll eventually be caught. Based on those tips, you'd think they would have been show on last year's Couples On The Run special. (but being that special led to four direct captures, and hot tips for another couple, can't complain too much).
I am confused as to how they think Kelly is liable if it was Roger who committed the murder? I take it it's assumed she helped with the "cleanup"?
Anyway, I get a feeling Roger or both of them didn't flee far and the whereabouts are still somewhere in rural America.

Probably the same reason why Martha Patlan was considered responsible for Luis Cisneros' death, even though it was Genero Dorantes who actually killed him. Even though there's evidence to suggest that Patlan was abused by Dorantes, she could have done something to get her little boy help before he died the horrible death he did. I'm guessing Kelly Jones probably could have done something in this case, but didn't.
Honestly, I'm surprised that at least Roger hasn't been found yet. Tips on him seem to be decent, and he was spotted fairly recently.

What is sad is their disregard for life.
On a side note, Kelly's real name is Kelly Jean Dillow. Dillow being the last name of the man her mother married, had a child with, then he left. Kelly left her husband & son in December of 1983, just before Christmas, after they had relocated to the Bay Area from Chicago.
She left behind her four year old son and distraught husband.
I know all of this because I am the son she left behind. My father & I have had to deal with the fact that she & Roger have used our names, our identities as covers over the years.
What a life.
Anyways, yeah, that is my mother.

Hi untruelies,
Welcome to the forum. I am sorry your mother who was supposed to raise you and love you left you and even worse became a fugitive wanted for murder. I can't imagine what that must feel like. I can say it is interesting to learn about who Kelly Jones was before she went on the run.
This is unique since usually the few family members that have posted here have posted here to defend a profiled fugitive, usually to say they're not guilty. I try to keep an open mind and allow all freedom of speech since all fugitives are technically innocent until proven guilty despite going on the run, but here you seem to be confirming you believe she is indeed the monster everyone says she is. Which is really sad.
Any clue where they might be today? Obviously specifics shouldn't be mentioned on a public forum, but I'd like to see there's hope they can be caught soon.

My father and I became best buds. Always close and still are; we talk daily and live less than a hundred miles apart.
Growing up I'd say she died, to avoid the feeling wierd but as I got older, 9/10 ish, I started actually being honest about it.
Now it is coffee talk. Oddly, people seem to be impressed, which annoys me because it is only because of a loss of a young man's life that they are in the 'news,' so to speak.
My dad was a partying musician who gave it up to raise a son and she grew tired of the non-drug filled life. Oh well.
Thank you for your concern. It still does hit me sometimes that I never had a mom, but oh well.
Robert

That is a weird reaction. If I learned someone I knew's parent was on America's Most Wanted, I'd probably admittedly say "wow" or something out of the sort, but only out of surprise, not because I was impressed.
In any case it stinks that she made it hard for your dad and you but thankfully you were raised well. Hopefully Roger and Kelly are caught soon where they can be famous in jail.

I think, as do some of the authorities still keeping tabs, that Roger offed Kelly. She was too flashy and didn't quite grasp the concept of staying below the radar. She's most likely in the ground or scattered about a back woods desolation. Which is what she deserves. Robert

Well it looks like Roger didn't murder Kelly after all to my surprise, but at least both have been caught. As far as this "tip" goes, aside from our forum, who else was covering this case?

No one besides AMW that I know of. That is part of my frustration with just using crime stoppers links and why I thought about creating our own tip form. We could be responsible for a direct capture and have no way of knowing or proving it since it's not our tip sheet. I think in the end it does work out better because of legal responsibilities instead of officially taking in tips (if someone gives me a location, I'll try to help them out anyway, as is the case with a possible future capture), but then we can never take credit unless we're given it.
At the end of the day, what's most important is two murder suspects are caught and not who gets credit. But it would be nice to have kudos if this was us.

Also, untruelies, if you're reading this, I don't know what the range of emotions is right now, but I hope it's a relief you no longer have to worry about your mother and Roger using your or your father's identity anymore and that there is some finality as to finding out what happened to them.

Here's pictures of Roger and Kelly today: Kelly looks completely different, but Roger still has the same nose, and, oddly, the same mouth shape! Notice his mouth slightly hangs open in both photos. And now that I look closely, I can see Kelly is actually making the same facial expression in her photos! Excellent news to hear of their capture!

Check out this excerpt from a local Kansas news station: In 2011, America’s Most Wanted featured a story on the fugitives. A excerpt from the story is included below: “Roger and his wife Kelly Jones are wanted in connection with a 1992 murder in Kansas. They were aired as BOLO alert cases in 2011. On April 13, 1992, a survey crew found the body of 25-year-old Patrick Howe on a roadside ditch just west of Dodge City, Kansas. Over the years, investigators have tracked Roger across the Western and Southern United States. Kelly on the other hand has never come up in a single lead.” OK, we haven't received credit if we produced the lead, but at least HeadMarshal's summary got in a news article, LOL!
