Of course, long-time AMW fans are familiar with the case of Robert Jackson, a former US Marshals Top 15 fugitive wanted for shooting at a rival gang on the Vegas strip in 2007 and instead injuring four innocent bystanders. He was on the run for four years before becoming AMW direct capture #1152 in Chicago.
What they might not know is due to some bizarre court proceedings, the trial has been delayed until June of next year while Jackson is under house arrest. Yes, you heard me. House arrest.
We all remember the footage of Brittany O'Dale, a runner who was in Vegas for her bachelorette party, who sustained the worst injuries, having to be carried by her father across the aisle for her wedding.
Here's what's happened since then. Jackson's bail was originally set at 1 million by the judge (why he even deserved bail in the first place is beyond me). Judge Linda Bell soon reduced it to 500,000 dollars on a technicality, saying she couldn't override the judge in Justice in Court.
In July of 2012, Judge Bell agreed for reduced bail of 250,000 dollars, as long as Jackson was placed under house arrest.
O'Dale is understandably outraged. While Jackson sits at home waiting for his trial, O'Dale's running days might be over, and her marriage is already over as she struggles with medical bills. She doesn't want to blame the shooting for that, but admits it was incredibly taxing during what should have been the honeymoon phase of her marriage.
I personally am sick and tired of these stupid ankle bracelets. How many fugitives have we seen on AMW who ran away because they were able to cut one off? Heck, Kayla LaSala, was able to cut one off, and she was a 14-year old girl! She then of course infamously stuck it on her cat too. So if a 14-year old girl can not only remove her ankle bracelet but also outwit authorities afterwards, why is it assumed that Robert Jackson, who managed to stay on the run for four years, is not a flight risk?
I hope that AMW doesn't have to re-capture him a la Steven Tatro. Let's hope a trial happens despite Judge Bell's idiotic decision:
