Evidence recovered at the scene indicated he'd been shot at least once, and the release shows an autopsy revealed he'd died from gunshot wounds. The Maryland State Police Homicide Unit took the lead in the investigation.
Detectives learned Belcher was last seen April 11 getting into a four-door sedan with two other people, according to police. His mother had reported him missing April 18 to the Baltimore County Police Department.
