Couple Found Dead In South Carolina Home
On January 25, 2009, deputies from the Spartanburg County Sheriff's Office responded to a 9-1-1 call from a home located on Highway 101 South in Woodruff, S.C.
When they arrived, they found the bodies of Hugo del Carmen Lugo-Hernandez and Teresa deJesus Avilla-Martinez; both of them had been shot several times, and their apartment had been ransacked.
Through an investigation, police say they learned that Hugo was involved in selling illegal drugs, and was receiving his supply from a man named Juan Carlos Estrada-Vasquez.
Police say Hugo owed Vasquez money, so he hired six men, to drive to Woodruff from Georgia to collect the debt. The men were promised half of what they collected from Hugo as a commission.
Police say four of the six men were arrested not long after the murders, as well as Vasquez, who cops say headed up the drug operation. Cops say Luis Perez and Jose Del Angel Gomez. (Description was cut off but I am assuming they were going to say cops say Perez and Gomez were also part of it and are still at large).
Thoughts? First off as much as I enjoyed the Lifetime season, I'm getting annoyed with discrepancies after the fact. First there was Cathy Morales and the Facebook story that wasn't. According to the Lifetime story, Hugo was innocent and a fortune teller randomly picked his name as the man who stole from Vazquez out of a bowl. Apparently he was a drug dealer and did owe money according to news articles. There is still NO EXCUSE for what happened to them. I forgot what the specific injuries were before Hugo and Teresa were finally killed, but one of the investigators said the crime stood out as having the most brutal non-fatal injuries he'd ever seen. It was still a brutal enough crime to make my personal top 10 list of the year. I just wish the facts were presented better, I'm just going to blame Lifetime since they're no longer airing AMW anyway.
Who knows where Perez is, but Gomez supposedly jumped off a bridge in Jacksonville and swam away. I'm assuming he survived. I assume either or could have made it to Mexico by now though.

UPDATE: The most recent article I could find pertaining to this case was from 2012. As far as I can tell, Perez and Gomez are still at large as of this update (7/22/2018), since I haven't found anything online suggesting otherwise. However, if anyone has any updates/proof-of-updates one way or the other, they are always more than welcome to let us know.
Admin Note #1: According to online articles, anyone with information on the whereabouts of Gomez and Perez is asked to contact the Cobb County Sheriff's Office at 770-449-4639 or Spartanburg County Sheriff's Office at 864-503-4527
