RODEO — The Contra Costa Sheriff is asking the public for help in locating an “armed and dangerous” fugitive who is believed to be the shooter in an April homicide.
Angelo Ramirez, 30, is wanted on suspicion of killing San Pablo resident Olajawon Walker, 24, outside of a liquor store on the 1000 block of Mariposa Avenue in Rodeo. Authorities said in a news release that Ramirez likely “fled the area” but his current whereabouts are unknown.
Ramirez is not the only suspect in Walker’s killing; a teen boy who allegedly handed Ramirez the murder weapon has been arrested, as has a woman suspected of giving a ride to the teen suspect immediately after the shooting.
Police have not disclosed the suspected motive, but say that the three suspects — along with a Bay Area rapper who also fled after the shooting — were hanging out in a group.
The teen boy allegedly handed a pistol to Ramirez, who fired multiple shots at Walker, fatally striking him. The suspects then all fled by different means; Ramirez allegedly ran from the scene, and hasn’t been heard from since.
The rapper — who this newspaper is not identifying because he wasn’t arrested or charged — drove off in one car. The woman, who has not been charged, drove away in one car, with the teen boy.
In May, police searched a Bay Point home looking for Ramirez, but he was not there. The teen boy, who attended a continuation high school in Concord, was arrested days after the shooting.
Police believe Ramirez may no longer be in the Bay Area. The Sheriff’s news release warns that he is considered “armed and dangerous” and that members of the public shouldn’t approach him him.
“It is believed Ramirez may be receiving assistance in avoiding apprehension,” the news release says. “Anyone associated with harboring Ramirez may be arrested for being an accessory to murder after the fact.”
Police say anyone who spots Ramirez should call 911. Tips can also be made by calling the Sheriff’s Office Dispatch at 925-646-2441 or the Investigation Division at 925-313-2600. Tipsters can also email tips@so.cccounty.us or call 866-846-3592 to leave an anonymous voice message.
