So how's this for bizarre? New Mexico Gov. Susana Martinez (R) is seeking reelection and is being challenged by state Attorney General Gary King (D). In her latest ad, Martinez features Michael Soutar, known as the Casanova Conman, and says that because of King's office, Soutar only served five years of a 34-year sentence. Longtime AMW viewers might remember Soutar; a white collar criminal, his MO was dating women and then scamming them after gaining their trust. AMW first profiled him back in 1997, but he was indirectly caught the day before the profile aired. In the early 2000s, Soutar escaped from prison and AMW profiled him again in 2005 (not 2004 as the article claims). He was caught indirectly a few months later in Boston. Using cases against people running for office isn't new (it's actually more common than you'd think) but this is the first time I can think of where an AMW fugitive has been used in one. Fascinating. Another interesting (though unrelated) piece of trivia: Gary King himself was interviewed on AMW back in 2012 during their sex trafficking special edition. krqe.com/2014/09/17/casanova-conman-makes-his-way-into-governors-race/

I read that too. I just love to see AMW still having influence, even in political campaigns. Another AMW connection here is that Noe Torres was indirectly captured because he wrote to Gov. Martinez's office asking for clemency. She in turn went to the Mexican state of Chihuahua and he was arrested. She said later 'I don't help child killers.' www.abqjournal.com/84666/news/i-dont-help-childkillers.html

Here's something interesting. The family of Anthony Padron, whose unsolved murder was profiled as part of the Purpose Over Pain segment in 2010, is featuring in a political ad in support of Illinois Gov. Pat Quinn. In it, Anthony's mother talks about how Quinn was there for her and family when they needed help the most. They don't mention the family by name, but I recognize Anthony's mother from her AMW interview and they show his photo at one point in the ad. www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xbl-Sp2p4SwI really like this ad. It's a nice alternative to the hatred that's spewed by both sides, especially in Illinois (I'd say I'm glad I don't live there anymore, but here in Iowa we have a Senate race that's just as vicious).

Now I feel guilty about only doing Terrell Bosley's case last week. But I specifically put him on the site knowing AMW Radio (which still exists just so people know!) was profiling him.
Off-topic, All I know is I think Quinn is the first Illinois Governor, Democrat or Republican, to not wind up in jail in recent memory LOL.
Also off-topic, I usually pick the "lesser of two evils" and have voted for both Democrats and Republicans but I'm probably going to cast my vote for a third party candidate for one of the major races in my state tomorrow. That's how disenfranchised I've become with both parties.
