From portlandoregon.gov (Crime Stoppers of Oregon):
The Portland Police Bureau, in partnership with Crime Stoppers of Oregon, is asking for the public's help to determine who killed Sean Kealiher.
On Saturday October 12, 2019 at 12:14 a.m., Portland Police officers were dispatched to a report of gunshots heard in the area of Northeast 8th Avenue and Davis Street. Responding officers received additional information that a driver crashed a vehicle into a building.
When officers arrived they found a SUV crashed into the side of a commercial building and no one around. Officers also located evidence of gunfire into the crashed vehicle. A short time later, a report came in to 9-1-1 of an injured person at a local hospital who had been dropped off by friends in a private vehicle.
Officers responded to the hospital and learned that after the crash, 23-year-old Sean Kealiher suffered critical injuries. Friends of the victim placed him into a personal vehicle and transported him to the hospital, where medical staff were unsuccessful at life-saving measures.
The Multnomah County Medical Examiner performed an autopsy and determined the cause of death was blunt force trauma and the manner of death was homicide.
Crime Stoppers of Oregon offers cash rewards of up to $2,500 cash for information, reported to Crime Stoppers, that leads to an arrest in any unsolved felony crime and tipsters can remain anonymous.

Thoughts? Based on additional articles, it appears that Sean's murder has become a controversial case. Sean was known as an "anti-fascist" activist who was arrested during the Occupy Portland protests in 2011. Sean's mother in articles has expressed frustration with the judicial system especially after agreeing with the police to not speak to the media and then later feeling did more harm than good. One person who lives a block away from the crime scene was quoted as saying this appeared to be a road rage incident.
All I know is this- Whether Sean's killing was related to any of his political activities or if it was a random act of violence, he still deserves justice like any other human being that was murdered. His mother still deserves justice as well. I want to also stress that I am also not suggesting Sean did anything wrong by exercising his right to protest regardless of whether his murder was related to his political activities, just that the only thing that should matter is a killer is on the loose. We sometimes deal with cases on our forum where the victim is like a drug dealer with a criminal record and we also stress "there is no excuse for murder" and I want to make sure Sean isn't talked about in the same manner.
And this shouldn't be political. If someone is murdered after attending a Trump rally in a random road rage incident or if someone shoots someone to death for wearing a red Make America Great Again hat, both motives would still be inexcusable murder and the perpetrator would still need to be brought to justice as well. Murder is murder.
Hopefully one day this can be sorted out and justice can be served. At the end of the day, there is no reason or motive that is a better case scenario and sadly there is never true closure in homicide cases because the victims cannot be bought back, but hopefully at the very least there is comfort in knowing the person that took away someone's loved one didn't get away with it.
