Admin Note #1: Above information is mostly accurate except as of October 8th, 2014, Marizela would be 22 years old if still alive.
Marizela Perez has been missing since March 5th, 2011 from Seattle, Washington. She was aired on the April 23rd, 2011 episode of AMW on Fox. Although unfortunately I can no longer access her profile on the website- I have transcribed her AMW radio airing:
"On March 5th, 2011, 18-year old Marizela Perez left her home and headed to the University of Washington's library. But investigators say she never made it. Between 2 and 3 PM, surveillance cameras in a supermarket captured Marizela walking through the store. But no one has seen here since these images were made. Though it's been more than 2 years since her disappearance, we all know that we can't stop looking for Marizela."
A few more notes from the Charley Project website-
-Marizela Perez is Filipino with brown hair and brown eyes. At the time of her disappearance, Perez's hair had red highlights and was cut in an assymetrical bob with short bangs. She may wear green-tinted contact lenses. She has a tattoo of the phrase "lahat ay magiging maayos" (meaning "all will be well" in Tagalog) on the inside of her left arm. Perez's nicknames are Emem and Mei.
-Marizela was last seen wearing a a dark-colored hooded jacket, a light-colored hooded sweater, jeans and light brown suede laced boots. Carrying a drawstring bag made of denim with a rainbow-colored butterfly screen print; it contained a Macbook Pro laptop.
-Marizela suffers from depression and was taking medication for the condition at the time of her disappearance.
-Marizela is the cousin of Michelle Malkin, a well-known conservative blogger and author.
Thoughts? Although Marizela suffered from depression, it can't be ruled out a stranger abducted her. Especially given the short time frame and the fact she was said to be going to the UW library.
As for her depression, it's a terrible illness and although I can't say I know what it's like (I like any normal being can get depressed but I don't consider it on the scale of people who truly suffer from it), I have seen it is some times inescapable for many people. I recently posted the case of Jiwon Lee in our forum-exclusive section, who was a Columbia University student that also battled depression and went missing. Although I didn't know Jiwon personally, I had friends that did. And sadly she was not able to overcome this horrible mental illness and committed suicide. And of course, we've even seen rich and famous celebrities like Robin Williams could not overcome it.
I hope this isn't the case with Marizela. But because she was diagnosed with having depression, whether it had anything to do with her disappearance or not, I just wanted to take the opportunity to stress there are plenty of support groups online and on the phone and there are always people willing to help if anyone ever thinks there isn't a way out.
It seemed Marizela was getting some help in the form of medication. But in my opinion, she either succumbed to her depression anyway or was abducted by a stranger.
