SAN ANTONIO — The U.S. Marshals need your help to find Rafael Vargas-Martinez. In 2006, Vargas-Martinez was arrested in Bexar County on charges of aggravated sexual assault of a child but was subsequently released on bond.
In 2008, a warrant was issued for his arrest, because he failed to appear to court and absconded from supervision. Vargas-Martinez was never to be seen again.
He lived here in San Antonio where the crime took place, but the U.S. Marshals believe he possibly fled to Mexico to avoid prosecution and capture.
Rafael Vargas-Martinez turns 36 years old this year, he's 5’8” and weighs approximately 160 pounds.
If you have more information on this fugitive, you are asked to call the Lonestar Fugitive Task Force at 210-657-8500... and remember fugitives can't hide from Fox San Antonio viewers.

As far as I can tell, I feel it is safe to reasonably assume Vargas-Martinez is still at large as of today's posting date (March 29th, 2021) since the above article is from only last month and he had already been on the run for over a dozen years at the time of the Fox San Antonio story.
