From Fox 13 Memphis (fox13memphis.com): (October 2020 article)
MEMPHIS, Tenn. — It’s been nine months since Robert Wilkins-Wiley was told that his husband Teon Wiley was shot and killed at a store on Overton Crossing in Frayser.
Police said moments before the shooting, a man asked Wiley for a dollar. When he refused, he was followed before the shooting happened.
“For him to lose his life and get shot five times about a dollar, it just doesn’t sit well with me. He was shot twice in the head, twice in the back and once in the shoulder. What I’m asking is, it doesn’t seem like a robbery. They say it was a robbery gone bad, but I think it’s like he was executed. I don’t know if it was a hate crime or a robbery,” said Wilkins-Wiley.
Wilkins-Wiley said his family is still wanting answers, but there were roadblocks along the way. He said police have no new leads and the community has been avoiding the case.
“When I first put this out on social media, a young man told me he would not help me because I’m black and I’m gay. He said he doesn’t believe in helping homosexuals,” explained Wilkins-Wiley.
He said it doesn’t stop there.
“When Teon was buried, I wanted to a side-by-side grave," Wilkins-Wiley said. "I called the health department and the young lady told me that I would have to call the brother and sister to have them removed to do a side-by-side, but if I was a lady, I wouldn’t need them.”
He only hoped for answers to get peace for his family after losing his husband of four years. He said as long as the shooter is on the streets, lives are in danger.
“I’m not just fighting for Teon," he said. "I’m fighting for anyone who has lost a child, or a brother, or an uncle and auntie to violence. I don’t want them pushed away with no one doing anything.”

Thoughts? I should stress the above article is from October 2020. However, as of our website posting date (October 4th, 2021), Teon's is sadly still listed as an unsolved homicide on the Project: Cold Case website.
I also can't believe the hypocrisy where someone's race and sexual orientation goes against one's morals, but apparently letting someone getting away with murder doesn't.
I would never wish this upon anybody but with the killer still on the loose in the neighborhood, Teon's next victim could be someone that young man knows and loves himself. Maybe then he'd care about helping.
