Child Rapist Flies Under The Radar
Upon emerging from a lengthy prison stint for raping and molesting a young girl in Vancouver, Wash., Jerry Allen Kettle was required by law to register as a sex offender for the remainder of his life.
But according to cops, within months of Kettle's release, he decided that registering just wasn't for him.
In February 2006, he married a woman in Amarillo, Texas -- but the honeymoon period only lasted a short time before the law began encroaching upon their lives once more. Within weeks of their union, a warrant was issued for Kettle's arrest for Failing to Register in Clark County, Wash. He was apprehended in Texas in late March but then quickly released on bond.
Later that summer, in August 2006, a judge in Amarillo issued an arrest warrant for failure to appear in a Potter County courtroom.
He failed to appear because, as Kettle's wife told police, Kettle took her to rural Colorado less than a week prior to his scheduled court date. For days, she says he held her captive until she managed to escape one morning. Throughout her captivity, she'd tried convincing Kettle to go back to court, but he wouldn't have it.
He's not been seen since.
U.S. Marshals Seek Elusive Sex Offender
Jerry Kettle was last seen in the woods between Monument Lake and Trinidad, Colo., in mid-August 2006.
Though he had no phone or vehicle, the U.S. Marshals hunting him down say he has been known to hitchhike. He often spoke of moving to Canada and establishing a new identity there.
Kettle has close family ties to Paw Paw, Mich., and Balch Springs, Texas, though there's no evidence that he's been in either area since his time on the run began.
He has a noticeable scar above his left eye and another one on his stomach. Kettle typically wears glasses, and sports a short mustache.
Thoughts? Canada would make sense. (Off-topic but is it me or have we not seen an AMW fugitive not from Canada captured there since like 2011. I realize Mexico is the place to be now for fugitives but I thought Canada was still theoretically the second most popular country to flee to.) I think the problem in catching Kettle is whether or not he's on land, he apparently can hide in the woods as well and may not just be in one place.
