The shooter drove to Brooklyn from Baltimore, Maryland. Later killed himself in a nearby subway station. NYPD commissioner William Bratton says they're still investigating. NO EXCUSE for this. I don't know what this guy's motivation was. There have been a few police controversies in the news lately (I've discussed them in private with HeadMarshal and have been apprehensive about discussing them here since like in the gun thread- I don't want posts where negativity and bad feelings might be inevitable.) At the same time, people have the right to protest, but not to engage in violence. It's also said he was a fugitive weho shot his girlfriend before driving to Brooklyn. So yeah maybe this guy was just some random nut, but I hope this isn't a trend because most officers risk their lives every day never knowing for sure if they will ever see their families again. My thoughts and prayers are with the Officers families.' There's never a non-tragic time for unwarranted deaths, but for this to happen during the holiday season makes this even more of a tragedy. www.cnn.com/2014/12/20/us/new-york-police-officers-shot/index.html?hpt=hp_t1

I live about 30 minutes from Ferguson, so all of this stuff has been shoved in my face to the point where I honestly don't care anymore. The acts of brutality, plus the protests, are just exhausting to hear about. This, on the other hand, is something else all together. I don't care what side you're on, this is completely unacceptable. Attacking police officers accomplishes nothing, it just makes it worse. If this guy was associated with the protesters, he just destroyed their cause. All in all, it's a tragic case that 2 officers lost their lives for nothing.

Yeah, without going too much into detail, all I have to say is ALL of us can do better, and we can still work together. What happened yesterday, however, accomplished nothing.

And now 2 more Officers shot- this time in the Bronx- but it seems this time it was the result of responding to a grocery store robbery. Still a terrible trend. I'll add the person/persons believed responsible to this site if this becomes a known fugitive case- they have a pretty clear picture in the surveillance video. www.cnn.com/2015/01/05/us/new-york-officers-shot/index.html
