GRAND RAPIDS, MI – An arrest warrant was authorized for a man who is believed to be connected to a woman who was found fatally shot in a car near downtown Grand Rapids.
Grand Rapids police issued an open murder arrest warrant for Luis Fabian Bernal-Sosa on Wednesday, June 7, for the killing of 22-year-old Leah Marie Gomez.
Bernal-Sosa is still on the loose as of Wednesday morning. He should be considered armed and dangerous, police said.
Bernal-Sosa is known to drive an early 2000s black Ford Ranger. It has an extended cab, aftermarket rims and tires, and might have a “Bernal Landscape Management sticker in the back, police said.
Gomez was found shot to death on May 31. She had been shot multiple times and was in a car located in a parking lot at 333 Commerce Ave. SW. Gomez’s 21-month-old daughter was in the back seat and taken to a hospital for evaluation.
Grand Rapids Police Chief Eric Winstrom previously said that the killing appeared to be targeted.
Wyoming police searched a home in the 2000 block of Johanna Avenue for Bernal-Sosa on June 2. He was not found during the search.
Police ask anyone with information on his whereabouts to call detectives at 616-456-3380 or Silent Observer at 616-774-2345.
