Pedro Fajardo, a severely underrated fugitive in my opinion, was aired three times on AMW. Below is an archived description of his case:
Chilling 911 Call Alerts Police To Murder
On the evening of Oct.15, 2008, the Duncanville, Texas, Police Department received a chilling 911 call alerting them to a murder. Police hurried to the scene.
Bernardina Garcia, a local mother, lay hunched over the steering wheel of a car; cops say she was shot multiple times in the head at close range.
It was not clear exactly what happened until police interviewed witnesses at the scene. Shockingly, the witnesses were Bernardina's own terrified children.
Domestic Dispute Quickly Escalates
Pedro Fajardo, the father of Bernardina's children, showed up to the house at around 9:15 p.m. on Oct. 15.
Witnesses say that Fajardo had been arguing with their mother, and Bernardina requested that someone accompany her outside. Cops say Fajardo became irrational, and Bernardina feared he may hit her.
Bernardina's daughter waited outside, prepared to call the police if anything were to occur.
Police believe the argument quickly escalated and the estranged couple moved to the confines of the car, so as not to wake up the neighbors. Once inside the car, cops say Fajardo shot Bernardina several times in the head.
Bernardina's daughter, hysterical and horrified, witnessed the entire event and immediately located her younger brother and called the police.
Cops: The Murder Was Premeditated
Not wasting a moment, cops say Fajardo fled the scene, leaving his dead wife and devastated children behind. Cops say Fajardo took off in a silver four-door 2003 Cadillac CTS. Recently, the U.S. Marshals recovered the car at a hotel parking lot in Laredo, Texas. According to police, the car may have been parked there for as long as three months.
After identifying the assailant through a photo lineup, police also discovered one last shocking detail.
Earlier that day, according to police, Fajardo had threatened to kill Bernardina, shouting, "I told you this was gonna happen!"
Cops say this last detail was enough to charge Fajardo with first degree murder.
As of now, police believe Fajardo headed towards Mexico with Fabiola; another woman he knows. Police have not yet determined whether Fabiola is with Fajardo on her own accord or whether she was taken against her will.
Fajardo uses the nickname "Tony-O," drinks Corona and loves playing soccer. Police say he is a human smuggler and could be traveling back and forth between Mexico and the Texas.
Thoughts? Somewhat off-topic but this case has been discussed when we mention threads we should make or request fugitives. The only reason it took me so long to add Fajardo was I couldn't confirm he was still wanted. The latest article is from 2008, once again a sign of how it should have gotten more coverage over the years. I finally figured out he was through the Dallas Criminal Court case search, where his warrant had a blank disposition (which I learned means still active). So in the future if it looks like I'm ignoring your case, it might just be because I can't confirm it's still active. I do take requests and such into account.
Anyway, as I mentioned this is an underrated case, and it's rather scary. There is a woman and three children potentially with Fajardo and no one has any idea if it's by their own free will or not. The AMW archive used to have a picture of Fabiola Oviedo at least, but sadly the link is now broken for it. If anyone has it, it would be a tremendous help and I'd appreciate it.
It's been over six years, way too long. We need to bring this guy to justice today.
