Charles Martin Vosseler- New Hampshire- 1986

The sad part is the boys were so young I'm not sure they remember they were kidnapped, it's possible Charles does he was 4 1/2. My earliest childhood memories are from around that age. However, who knows, and William probably doesn't remember.

I also unfortunately fear for their safety over the years more than I do for most missing children kidnapped by a parent. Vosseler has exhibited some signs of mental instability here- the first being his need to take the children in the first place and then burning down the house in Oklahoma- which was possibly done to destroy evidence imo, but still rather bizarre.

I hope we one day find out what happened despite the passage of time.

Ok watched the show which led to some clues.

Also, I learned this case was on a short-lived syndicated series called "Missing: Reward" (hosted by Stacy Keach of American Greed) so it should have been in the fugitives on tv section even before the Tamron Hall episode.

Anyway, here goes some more info from the show:

-Charles was said to be extremely controlling. He made lists of the exact amount of money he wanted Ruth Vosseler (his wife at the time) to spend at the Supermarket.

-His parents seemed to be just as evil as he was. His mother once complained to Ruth she was getting in her way and the father brought the house Ruth owned with Charles- leaving her with nothing.

-Charles cleaned out Ruth and his bank account, and also emptied everything out of the storage building that stored Ruth's belongings, giving it to an auction house to be sold off. It left Ruth penniless, without much monetary resources to search for her children.

-Charles was in Pennsylvania and New Jersey the days after he abducted his children. His parents admitted to driving around Pennsylvania with him and claimed they were trying to convince him to bring the kids back.

-In Stillwell, Oklahoma, where he was almost court, Charles was living under the alias Charlie Wilson and is said to always use Charles and Charlie as his first name for his alias. His kids were home schooled, and he told his girlfriend, who recognized him from a post office wanted poster, not to ask questions about their mother. It is said Charles purporsely chose Stillwell, Oklahoma since it was a small town where his kids wouldn't be noticed much.

-Vosseler even on the run with his kids posted advertisements in a Do-It-Yourself magazine called "Mother Earth News" seeking a wife to have children with.

-Charles Vosseler may suffer from an eye condition called horizontal Nystagmus, which is said to possible include causing one's eyes to squint and vibrating of the pupils

-The last credible sighting of Vosseler was 1998 when his ex-wives may have spotted him on a flight from Boston to Dallas.


So this show just like The Hunt proves why dedicating an entire hour to a case can sometimes really help. There are now a lot of good clues for the public to finally solve the case.

I still feel what will really finally solve this is one of Charles's kids finally realizing they might really be one of the Vosseler children.

Could just be someone related to the family as well. Who knows. If any of the kids want it known they're alive, they are now adults and can speak up.

Just wanted to mention the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children's missingkids.org website recently put up new age enhanced photos of Charles Martin Vosseler and his two sons.

There's another age-progressed image of Vosseler on the FBI website that differs from the one at the top of the thread:

I will say this. Charles vosseler is 77 so he is probably either dead or he could very well have an illness or he could be in great shape. What is interesting is that his sons are both in their 30s so you would think they would easily be able to fight him as they are a lot younger than him. This of course means that Charles is holding them by their will but at that age I see that it is very unlikely. I found out that he was really good at economics when he was young so he knows how to buy and sell property very well. He also suffers from horizontal nystagmus meaning that his eyes go from side to side. This could be a recognisable feature and if someone has seen an old man with it they should call a tip in as it could be him. But the boys are in their 30s now and they would have contacted if they were free but maybe he is stopping them as he has a gun. What do you think ? I think he is still in the United States.

Do you think he is dead ? I mean its weird thinking that somewhere out there he is celebrating his 77th birthday today with his boys.
