Juan Miguel Mercado is wanted for the capital murder of 19-year old Marcela Luciano. This is according to the Dallas Morning News archives and the Dallas County Odyssey court records database.
Authorities allege that Juan shot out the sliding glass door to his ex-wife's apartment. Before he did this, the ex-wife along with Marcela and a five-year old girl went and hid in a closet. This was in fear for their safety. Authorities say that Juan went inside the apartment and pulled Marcela from the closet. He then allegedly shot Marcela to death in front of his ex-wife and presumably in the presence of the child as well. Juan has been wanted ever since.

Thoughts? As of today, July 20, 2024, Juan's capital murder case in Dallas County's court records database is in "open" status, with no filings since 2006. I checked PACER and did not see a UFAP (Unlawful Flight To Avoid Prosecution) for him.
I should also clarify that this post is only for public awareness purposes and is not being used for commercial purposes. The photo of Juan was edited in the Remini app so that anyone that registers on this site can get a better look at him. The primary purpose of this site is for readers to recognize fugitives so that they can provide tips to law enforcement. This needs to happen so that the victims and their families can get justice and to improve public safety.
I do hope that publicizing Juan here can generate new leads in the manhunt for this extremely dangerous and violent fugitive. Marcela's family deserves justice and accountability in their loved one's case.
