Audley "Earl" Anglin was aired three times over the last years of AMW's airings on Fox. Below is the archive description of his case:
From Bingo Buddies To Best Friends
For 52-year-old Percy Sierra, playing Bingo was her favorite hobby; she would go to different Bingo parlors in the Denver area almost every day.
And it was in one of those parlors that she met 39-year-old Audley Earl Anglin, a Jamaican immigrant, who shared Percy's passion for the game.
Both Percy and "Earl," as Percy called him, played regularly, and for five years they had almost the same routine: "Earl" would be waiting at Percy's house for her to come back from her janitorial job, and both would drive to Bingo.
What started as a bond over a common hobby developed into a stronger friendship, in which they would care for each other and rely on each other if one of them was struggling, especially with money.
Percy and Earl trusted each other so much that they decided to make a deal: whatever they would win playing Bingo, they would split it. However, cops say this trust would be suddenly and tragically broken.
Bingo Deal Turns Ugly
On March 10, 2008, "Earl" and Percy drove to Central City, Colo., to celebrate her birthday at a casino located about 30 miles west of Denver.
Percy's daughter Shaleen, her niece Jennifer, and her son-in-law, Adrian met them there, but left a few hours later.
Percy and Earl decided to stay and instead of playing Bingo they started gambling.
It didn't take long for Percy to call her daughter with some good news: She had won $500 gambling!
Shaleen was excited. Finally, her mom would able to buy the flat-screen TV that she had been saving so hard for.
That evening, Percy's family gathered to continue celebrating the birthday. However, people were surprised that Earl was not present.
Later that night, Percy told Shaleen that Earl was mad at her because she hadn't split the money she'd won at a casino.
According to Percy, Earl demanded his half of the prize, but she refused because she hadn't won it playing Bingo, and because it was her birthday money. Shaleen agreed that Percy shouldn't have to give Earl any money.
However, Percy and Earl apparently were able to work things out, and two days later, on March 12, they were back to their routine: bingo night.
Friendship Ends In Tragedy
On March 13, 2008, Shaleen called her mother around 2 p.m. to check in with her as she did every day. Shaleen didn't get a call back.
At first she thought Percy's cell phone had died, or she was just out shopping with the money she'd gotten on her birthday.
But when she didn't hear from Percy until almost 8 p.m., she thought something might be wrong.
Shaleen called the Bingo halls where her mom used to hang out, and they told her she had been there the night before with Earl, but that they hadn't seen her since then.
Shaleen also called her grandmother, Percy's mom, but she hadn't heard from Percy either.
Shaleen knew this was so unlike her mother, and decided to look for her.
Shaleen made a horrendous discovery: Her mom was lying on the floor of her home, dead. She had been stabbed.
Five days later, investigators had a warrant for Audley "Earl" Anglin's arrest and two possible motives for the murder.
Cops believe Anglin may have resented the fact that Percy didn't share the money she won on her birthday. But they are also not discarding the possibility that Anglin may have wanted to have a more serious relationship with Percy, but she didn't feel the same way.
Cops believe that after the murder, Anglin fled to Atlanta and then took a plane to Jamaica, but he may be back in the country.
Thoughts? Both of the reasons Anglin allegedly killed Percy Sierra are extremely petty (and to be honest, I wouldn't be surprised if there is some truth to both theorized motives and not just one), so I don't care the reason. Just that Anglin needs to pay for what he allegedly did. I've said before it is someone difficult to capture fugitives who have probably fled to the Caribbean. Andre Neverson and Anthony Smith are two examples. Anglin is probably in Jamaica still, and I would look for him in casinos there or elsewhere in the Caribbean. Let's make Anglin's luck run out, and finally take him to justice. Call Metro Denver Crime Stoppers if you've seen him.
