His father currently lives in Falcon Heights, Texas and his mother lives in La Escondida, Agualeguas, Nuevo Leon, Mexico.

Cops: Canceled Class Leads To Jealous Rage
For the last six years, David Salas had lived in Realitos, Texas, with his common-law wife, Desiree Guerra, and their then-3-year-old son. According to Desiree, everything seemed fine on the evening of April 16, 2008, when she and her cousin Christina were on their way to Hebbronville to attend their GED class. But when they arrived, the teacher told them the class was canceled because a large fire was inching toward her ranch.
Desiree tells AMW that she called Salas to let him know she wasn’t going to class and was waiting for her mother, Herlinda, to finish up work and give her a ride home. Salas was already furious because her teacher had called him first. Desiree tried to explain that they’d arrived 15 minutes early, so her cousin stopped to buy meat for dinner.
But Salas launched into a jealous tirade, accusing Desiree of having an affair.
Desiree Refuses To Give Up On School
When Desiree returned to her parents’ home, she says Salas hung out in the yard with some friends for about 30 to 40 minutes. But every once in awhile, he’d call her outside to interrogate her about who she was with and where’d she been – and call her foul names. Desiree tells AMW that she finally told him if he was going to keep that up, she’d stay with her mother that night. But Salas thought Desiree was going to meet another man.
Desiree says she denied it, reassuring him he was the one. Salas told her not to bother coming back if she stayed with her mom.
Around 8 p.m., Salas called Desiree, telling her to pick up her stuff or it’d end up in the garbage. Desiree talked her parents into taking her home to get her things, because she knew he would make good on his threat. While she was at their home, Salas told her again if she came home to him, she would not be allowed to go to the GED classes. Desiree told him she would not give up school and left with her parents.
Marshals: Salas Takes It Out On Desiree's Mother
As Desiree was getting ready for bed, a knock came at the door. According to police, Salas had showed -- drunk and still in a jealous rage. Salas told Desiree again that she would not be going back to the GED classes, and she replied that she couldn’t be with him if he wouldn’t let her go to school. At that point Desiree says she thought he was going to hit her. Instead, she says he walked right past her, down a hallway toward her mother’s bedroom. With Desiree and their son following him, Salas allegedly pulled out a gun and shot Herlinda four times – killing her. Salas then walked out of the house and hasn't been seen since.
A warrant was issued for Salas’ arrest on May 23, 2008. According to Deputy U.S. Marshal Lujan, he received information on Nov. 25, 2009, from Mexican authorities that Salas has been living in the state of Tamaulipas, and Nuevo Leon, Mexico. Authorities say Salas is a Mexican national who'd been living in the United States illegally. Salas comes from a very large family of five brothers and six sisters who live in that area. His father currently lives in Falcon Heights, Texas, just a few hours away from his mother in La Escondida, Agualeguas, Nuevo Leon, Mexico.
Thoughts? This is a very underrated case in my opinion and I'm surprised it only made AMW as a web-exclusive. What kind of a man allegedly kills his own mother-in-law right in front of his wife and 3-year old son? All because he allegedly doesn't want his wife to get an education because he's too paranoid when she's not in the house?
I checked the Texas court system and there's a bunch of guys named David Salas in there- but none wanted for murder. So I am assuming he is still at large as of this posting date (5/18/2015). Once again, if anyone has proof otherwise, feel free to send it to us.
