Roger "Alex" Mendez-Lopez, Eberto Ulloa-Vallecios, and Rigoberto Otero-Aguilar are wanted for a very callous and brutal crime. They were aired on the September 10th, 2005 episode of America's Most Wanted. The brief description above is from to the Prince William County, Virginia's cold case website. Below is the more detailed AMW archive description of the case:
Obscure Clues Help Investigators Crack Murder Case
On the night of Feb. 7, 2005, Virginia police were called to a wooded area in Haymarket, Virginia where they found the body of a man who died a torturous death. The man's body was mutilated with puncture wounds and his head was smashed with a carpenter's hammer.
But after searching the scene, police learned the man's wallet was missing and he didn't have an ID in his possession. However, police did manage to recover two pieces of paper from the man's pockets, which would eventually help them crack the case.
Clues Lead Police To Three Murder Suspects
One of the pieces of paper was a receipt and the other was a napkin with the name "Jennifer" and a phone number.
First, investigators say they followed up on the credit card clue. They ran the numbers from the receipt and followed it to a man named Jose Efrain Guzman. Then, they followed the receipt to a place called Pepe's Bar.
When they got to the bar, police met a waitress named Jennifer. And after meeting with her, they were able to put all of the pieces of the puzzle together.
Free Ride Home Turns Deadly
Jennifer told police that the night before, Jose was at the bar alone. After she met him, she said they danced briefly, then exchanged telephone numbers. She also told police the restaurant had a surveillance system.
After looking over the video, police learned more about the night's events. While Jose had allegedly headed to the bar alone, it didn't stay that way long. He ended up partying with two other men: Alex Mendez-Lopez and Eberto DeJesus Ulloa-Vallecillos.
Police say the men offered to give Jose a ride home, or at least that's what they told him they were going to do. Instead, cops say the two men began a night-long crime spree, using Jose's credit cards at ATM's and gas stations. Along the way, police say they picked up third suspect, Rigoberto Otero-Aguilar.
But when the men couldn't get any more money, police say they beat Jose to death. Police have since charged the men with first degree murder. Now they need your help in order to bring justice to Jose's family.
Thoughts? The investigators did incredible investigative work. Unfortunately, this trio was able to slip away. My guess is they fled to Mexico, although considering it's been over a decade, they're likely not together anymore. I will post the links to the profile descriptions beneath the admin notes. Please take into account the archive year of the profiles to figure out the suspects likely current age as they are obviously older now...
