Luis Ramon Zertuche was aired on the March 13th, 2010, episode of America's Most Wanted along with his cousin Arturo Zertuche (who has since been captured). Below is the archive description of the cousins' alleged crimes:
Fla. Cops: Cousins Terrorize Neighborhood
Arturo Zertuche and his older cousin, Luis Zertuche, are just plain bad news, say Tampa, Fla.-area police. Detectives from the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office and the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force are on a manhunt for these two alleged criminals.
The Zertuche cousins, whose mothers are sisters, have reportedly never worked a day in their lives. Police say Arturo, while younger, is the more violent of the two. He has 12 arrests on his rap sheet, including charges of assault and battery, drug-related crimes and resisting arrest.
Detectives believe the Zertuche boys are the leaders of loose-knit, unorganized gang in the Tampa area called "Westside." The gang is allegedly into guns, stealing, and drugs.
The gang has become increasingly more violent, with the Zertuche cousins calling the shots, cops have said.
Police say a series of shootings in 2009 raised serious concerns about these two men and has frightened neighbors out of their homes.
Cops: Cousins' Reign Of Terror Continues
The reign of terror in Riverview, a small community near Tampa, Fla., began Feb. 16, 2009, cops say.
Police say the Zertuche cousins and a third unknown man were at a local convenience store, where Luis was captured on surveillance video.
After a few minutes, Luis left the store and got into his car. Police say Arturo and the unidentified Hispanic male were inside the same vehicle.
Detectives report that Luis pulled out a handgun and began shooting at another man. Police say Luis struck the victim in the leg.
The victim also witnessed Arturo and the other Hispanic man in the car with assault weapons. Officers searched for the car and the three men, to no avail.
Within a few months and a few miles, cops claim that the Zertuche cousins were back at it. Detectives say this time, Arturo Zertuche came armed and ready to back up another cousin, Carlos Gonzalez, who was fighting with a man in a mobile home park.
The group smashed several windows of the victim's car. Detectives say Zertuche took out a handgun and fired several rounds at the male victim, hitting him in the back.
The victims and witnesses in these cases fear for their lives, knowing how deadly the cousins are. Arturo and Luis Zertuche have family in Palmetto, Fla., and in southeast Texas.
"These guys are dangerous," said Detective Marvin Johnson of the Hillsborough Sheriff's Office. "All we need is one vital piece of information to find them and take them off the streets."
Thoughts? Arturo Zertuche was captured in Plant City, Florida in 2012 on an unrelated theft charge. Plant City is in the same county as Tampa. So it is possible Luis may be hiding in plain sight.
