Davilmas and Martimeo Reyes-Gonzales are wanted out of South Carolina for the murder of a young woman who had moved to the state to start a new life. The case never made AMW itself, but was on their website as a "My Story" case, where victims' families submit stories to the website. Below is the archived "My Story" article from the old website:
Starting A New Life
My daughter's name is Kathryn Marie Laviner-Lynch. She was 24 years old and a mother of four children. The youngest turned one year old three days after her death. She was my only daughter.
Kathryn Lynch's family is devastated and longing for answers after she was killed in the spring of 2005. Her mother, Lavada Vance, said that Kathy had only recently moved to Johns Island, S.C. after leaving St. Mary's, Ga. and her husband. Lavada said her daughter was excited about starting over in South Carolina.
But her new life was tragically cut short late on March 6, 2005 -- this was the last time anyone saw Kathryn alive.
Looking For Answers
Authorities say that she was last seen around midnight at the Los Cantina bar on Walnut Hill Road on Johns Island, S.C. But police have yet to put together exactly what happened between that time and the discovery of her body 13 hours later.
"It was hard to pin down who she was with and where she went afterward," said Capt. Dana Valentine of the Charleston County Sheriff's Office.
They believe that she was there with a couple of friends. However, her friends had gotten into an altercation, and went to the hospital to get stitches after another girl had hit one of them in the head with a beer bottle. Kathryn was shot in the left eye and her body was found on March 6, 2005, about 1:30 p.m. in a field.
But the gruesome discovery of her partially-clothed body, found several miles away on a stretch of private land, immediately raised flags for authorities. It was obvious to the sheriff's officials that she had been shot and killed, but they would not release any more information to the public at that time.
Piecing It All Together
Although police knew Kathryn was at the Los Cantina bar on March 6, 2005, they still didn't have much to go on. But that all changed when they got a big tip a few days later on March 9, 2005.
One of the Charleston detectives received a call from an informant, who told him that he had given a man named Miguel Reciones a ride on March 7, 2005, and that Reciones told him about the murder of Kathryn Lynch.
The detective quickly realized that the informant was credible because he gave facts that had not yet been released to the public. Reciones was immediately taken into custody, but said his two roommates were responsible. His roommates were brothers, Davilmas Reyes-Gonzales, 31, and Martimeo Reyes-Gonzales, 24. Reciones said that the Reyes-Gonzales brothers left for Mexico, and a warrant is still out for their arrest.
Reciones said that the two brothers came to him after the fact and he did not report it to the police. I believe that all three of the men are in this country illegally. I also fear by the way my daughter was shot and murdered, that they will not hesitate to kill someone else again.
More Clues, But Still No Justice
Investigators were able to locate one of the brothers' sisters who told police her brothers had contacted her. She says they called and said they were returning to Mexico because of a family illness.
Police were also able to track the brothers driving a 1995 Toyota Corolla that was found abandoned at gas station in Sumter County. A witness remembers seeing all three suspects hanging out at the gas station on the day after the homicide. Incidentally, that gas station is within walking distance to a Greyhound bus station.
On behalf of Kathryn's brothers, children, and her family I am praying that you can help us. Her children will someday ask me what happened and I will not know what to say to them if we cannot find the answers.
Thoughts? I think it's safe to say the brothers fled to Mexico based on them abandoning their car near a Greyhound gas station. As far as I can tell, the Reyes-Gonzales brothers are still at large as of this posting date (6/24/2015) since I couldn't find any articles stating other wise. If anyone has proof otherwise, please feel free to let us know. I've linked to Davilmas' old profile from 2007. He should be around his early 40's based on that profile. Unfortunately, the profile statistics link no longer works for Martimeo, so that is another update we wouldn't mind if anyone sent us info about.
