Otto Rene Espinoza, wanted for his role in a deadly argument over a parking spot, was aired on the February 11th, 2006 episode of America's Most Wanted. Unfortunately, the AMW archived link to his profile stats (Height, weight, etc) is defunct but I do have the case description which I'll post below:
Two Men, One Parking Spot And A Gun
Otto Espinoza had lived in his apartment in Plainfield, New Jersey with his girlfriend for nearly two years. He worked a late shift at a factory, making glass windows. Often he would leave work late and there would be no parking spots left in his small complex lot.
Cops say his frustration was growing everyday.
At about 10:00 p.m. on July 28, 2001, he came home just like any other night. As usual, there were no spots left. So cops say Espinoza took the situation in his own hands.
The Rage Rises
Espinoza parked his pickup truck behind a car which belonged to Omar Simmons and blocked it in. Omar, who was visiting a bar around the corner, came by just in time to see Espinoza walking by. Cops say Omar told him to move his car, but Espinoza yelled back at him and went inside his home.
Then, Plainfield officials say that Omar got frustrated and started to bash all the windows on Espinoza's truck.
This time, authorities say Espinoza had had enough. Allegedly, he began to fire shots at Omar through his kitchen window on the second story. Cops say that of the six shots that were fired, one managed to hit Omar and take his life.
According to officials, these men had never met before and the entire fight lasted merely a few minutes.
Mysterious Stranger
Hardly anything is known about Espinoza, inlcuding whether he is an American citizen.
Cops say he is a native of Grenada and came to the United States a little over two years ago via Mexico and Texas.
According to authorities, Espinoza might have skipped out of town or even left the country the same way he came.
Thoughts? As far as I can tell, Espinoza was still wanted as of this posting date (6/24/2015) since I couldn't find anything online that suggests otherwise. If anyone has proof otherwise, please feel free to let us know.
While I understand Espnioza's initial frustrations, based on the alleged account, the solution wasn't to block another guy's car in, who had apparently been parked legally. This was a situation where the appropriate response for both parties should have been to call the cops. Instead, it became an argument that spiraled way out of control. And while I don't approve of smashing Espinoza's windows, A) Omar was at his wits end because he was in the right yet Espinoza still wouldn't move his car and B) Allegedly killing Omar was obviously completely unnecessary.
The problem with catching Espinoza is he's a bit of an enigma. The fact the profile link no longer works sort of just heightens that.
