As a religious adviser to Elkhart, Indiana's Hispanic community, Roberto Vasquez was able to preach his Gnostic beliefs and change people's lives, one family at a time.
But cops in Elkhart allege that over the years, his actions became much more sinister than that.
In 1999, while advising one particular family in the ways of Gnosticism, Vasquez began victimizing a 6-year-old girl.
The molestation went on for years, from the time she was in second grade until she turned 13 years old in 2006.
In addition to the incessant molestation, he'd often e-mail the pre-teen pornographic cartoon imagery, as well as photographs of adult sex toys.
When the teen's mother was cleaning her bedroom one day, she stumbled upon some of the pornography Vasquez gave her daughter. After a brief one-on-one talk with her child, the girl's mother learned of the heinous acts Vasquez committed over the previous six years.
Together, they went to police in January 2007, and less than two months later, on March 1, the U.S. Marshals in Chicago placed Vasquez in custody.

While awaiting trial, Vasquez posted bond and remained a free man. The case finally went before a judge and jury from Oct. 5-7, 2009 -- but Vasquez didn't intend to stick around to see his fate play out in court.
On Oct. 7, an Elkhart Superior Court jury found Vasquez guilty on nine counts of child molestation and two counts of disseminating pornography to a minor. When the verdict was read, Vasquez was nowhere to be found. That day, a warrant was issued for his arrest on a charge of failure to appear for jury trial.
A month later, on Nov. 5, 2009, a judge sentenced Vasquez, in absentia, to 247 years behind bars.
Now, he's still on the run, and authorities need your help tracking him down, before he infiltrates another unsuspecting family.
Sexual Deviant Might Be In Chicagoland Area
Roberto Vasquez will do anything to stay free. According to Elkhart Police Detective Michal Miller, "Vasquez is a smart guy who knows what he's doing," and needs to be caught, she says.
Besides advising families on his Gnostic beliefs, cops tell us Vasquez has no discernible work-related skills.
Vasquez may have fled to Mexico, but cops tell AMW that most all of his known ties are in the metropolitan Chicago area. He is a Chicago native and even has a wife and child there.
If he's still there is anyone's guess, but Vasquez must face justice for his past.

Thoughts? Vasquez I'm pretty sure was a BOLO alert case in 2010. If he has no work experience aside from religious teachings to Hispanic families, then aside from his family, how can he support a life on the run? This makes me think that he may have fled to Mexico, perhaps a small town where he could blend in perfectly as a religious adviser.
