Police in Albany, N.Y. say Raul Castro ambushed Anthony Zaquon Jones outside a bar on November 11, 1987; Jones never had a chance. He was shot in the neck and he died.
Castro was never arrested for the offense, and on February 23, 1998, a warrant was issued. Castro has been charged with second degree murder, but police have yet to track him down.
Thoughts? I've said this jokingly, but just in case anyone actually seriously thinks anything about his name, I do not believe this Raul Castro is related to the Cuban leader at all. This was a web-exclusive case on AMW's old website. Castro was also on the now defunct list of New York State's 100 Most Wanted fugitives.
There seems to some confusion as to the year of the alleged offense as the old archive for NYS 100 Most Wanted says the murder occurred in 1997 with the possible motive a drug war. AMW says 1987. Since what doesn't seem to be in dispute is 1998 as the warrant date, I put that as the wanted year.
Most of the possible locations are in the states, but anything could have happened in 17 years. (Would be ironic if Raul Castro fled to Cuba!)
