Employees Allegedly Killed By One Of Their Own
The community of Vista, California was shocked by a double homicide on December 18, 2005. The incident occurred at Polaris Pool Systems Inc., a business specializing in automated pool-cleaning equipment.
Cops say that a little before 8:30am, Imeldo Laurel drove his 2001 black and tan Chevrolet Silverado dual-cab pick-up truck into the business park just as some of the Polaris employees had gone on a break. Witnesses say he seemed to be looking for someone.
At around 8:35am, police say Laurel opened fire with a high powered assault rifle on two people who were sitting on the curb between two parked cars. He fired twelve rounds into Maria Matinez, 38, and Manuel Lopez Alvarez, 46 who died minutes later. Laurel sped away in his pick-up.
Police note that the company normally was not open on Sundays and that the part-time employees working that day were workers that wouldn't have usually worked together. Cops say that the irregular shift combined with the fact that the business park is in a quiet industrial location makes the crime an unusual set of circumstances.
Cops Say He's An Unlikely Killer
Cops say Imeldo Laurel had worked at Polaris for 20 years and was described as reliable and likeable. Police also say that the crime is puzzling due to the fact that Laurel was a family man with a wife and five kids living nearby. Cops say that Laurel had no previous record.
Cops disclose that they found Laurel's Chevy Silverado on Friday, December 23, 2005 at a mobile home in Fallbrook, California. A SWAT team was called but Imeldo Laurel never showed. Two women who resided at the mobile home told police that Laurel had stayed there for a few days.
Police currently believe that Imeldo Laurel could be in San Diego, Los Angeles, San Bernadino, or in Mexico, where cops believe he has family. Cops consider him to be armed and extremely dangerous.
Thoughts? The above was the AMW archived profile for Imeldo Molina Laurel. He was aired on the July 8th, 2006 episode of America's Most Wanted. For the longest time, I couldn't add Laurel to our site because I couldn't confirm his warrant- he's wanted out of Vista, CA which is in San Diego County yet there's no warrant on file in the online public search for San Diego County. However, as luck would have it, Googling this case again the Busted Most Wanted Site just put up his profile and claims he's still wanted as of October 11th, 2015. So now I have a reason to reasonably assume he's still wanted- however, if anyone has proof otherwise, please feel free to let us know.
