"Police in Salem, Oregon say Marcelo Sanchez-Rubio beat and stabbed his estranged wife to death in front of her four-year-old daughter on December 2, 2001.
According to Heidi's friends, Sanchez-Rubio was extremely jealous and possessive after the two married the previous March. Sanchez constantly called Heidi during the day to see where she was and who she was with often telling her to come home. He tried to prevent her from spending time with her friends or from speaking to any of her male friends. Friends say Heidi would leave him, but Sanchez-Rubio would threaten to kill himself if she did and often Heidi would agree to take him back. But, in November 2001, Heidi told Sanchez-Rubio that she wanted a divorce. His mother died in Mexico around the same time, but the couple agreed he should start moving out of their apartment. On December 1, 2001, Heidi decided to go out with two of her coworkers, while Sanchez-Rubio watched her daughter. Heidi returned the next morning. Salem police say she and Sanchez-Rubio began fighting and he began beating and stabbing Heidi to death. Police say her four-year-old daughter witnessed the brutal murder. She hopes that her "daddy" will be locked away soon so that he won't "get her too." Investigators believe Sanchez-Rubio may have fled to California or to Mexico."
Thoughts? The above was the archive description for this case, which was aired on the November 2nd, 2002 episode of America's Most Wanted. As far as I know, Sanchez-Rubio is still at large.
Update: As of July 20th, 2018, a search of Oregon's online criminal court records (Odyssey), still shows Sanchez-Rubio as having a felony warrant from 2001: webportal.courts.oregon.gov/portal/Home/WorkspaceMode?p=0
