USMS: Valdez Shot, Killed Victim In Cold Blood
U.S. Marshals in Dallas are on a manhunt for Juan Carlos Valdez – a gangbanger accused of gunning down a man in cold blood after a street fight.
Authorities say Valdez is so dangerous that he’s the newest addition to the GangTECC Most Wanted List, the U.S. Attorney General’s national anti-gang task force.
On June 17, 2006, authorities say more than 10 gangbangers attacked a lone victim – Robert Lamont Wallace – at a Dallas gas station. They believe that the altercation occurred over a woman – possibly Valdez’s girlfriend – and that multiple thugs jumped Robert, pummeling and kicking him.
U.S. Marshals say Valdez couldn’t leave well enough alone and as Robert lay injured on the ground, Valdez is alleged to have stood over the victim, shooting him dead in cold blood.
Authorities say the shooter was identified as Juan Carlos Valdez – an illegal immigrant from Mexico – and a murder warrant for his arrest was issued a little more than a month later Aug. 26, 2006.
U.S. Marshals say Valdez had already skipped town, and now they need the public’s tips to bring this dangerous gangbanger down.
Authorities: Valdez Could Have Returned To Texas
Authorities tell AMW that Valdez is affiliated with the “Locos-13” gang, as well as the “Eastside Boys,” one of the Dallas-Fort Worth area’s largest gangs. They say that Valdez has been arrested in the past for involvement in a drive-by shooting, as well as traffic violations and juvenile mischief.
U.S. Marshals say Valdez was born in La Florida in Guerrero, Mexico, and may have returned there. But they also have indication that Valdez has been returning to Texas periodically to visit his child and others family members in the Dallas-Fort Worth area.
“It’s been a long time now, and we think he’s probably resurfaced thinking that the coast is clear,” said Deputy U.S. Marshal Marquis Fomby. “He has ties to Mexico, but we don’t believe he’s spending too much time there.”
Authorities say Valdez stands just 5 feet 3 inches tall and weighs in around 135 pounds. He has brown eyes, black hair and is light-skinned, going by the nickname, “Guero.”
U.S. Marshals think Valdez could be back in the states working in the construction or auto mechanic business. They say he smokes weed and drinks alcohol.
Valdez has some very distinguishing tattoos including a cross on his right forearm with the name “Vicenta” above it, as well as the thespian comedy/tragedy masks above his left ankle. The name “Carlos” is inked on his left wrist, in addition to “Valdez” on the side of his neck and “13” on the back of his neck.
“There’s no telling what he looks like now, but those tattoos aren’t going to go away easily,” Deputy Fomby said.
Thoughts? The above case description is from the AMW archives. Valdez was aired on the May 15th, 2010 episode of America's Most Wanted.
