Home Inspector Finds The Unthinkable
On December 20, 2005, a 64-year-old home inspector in Monroe, N.C. walked into a horrific scene while inspecting a vacant home. Making her routine check of an outhouse in the backyard, she found the bodies of two men, Cleveland Garmo and Ricky Hartsell, beaten, saturated in their own blood, and badly decayed. Speechless and horrified, the woman called police who immediately came to the scene.
Cops say blood evidence suggested that the bodies had been dragged from outside of the outhouse. To retrace the criminal's path, police used Luminol, a chemical which emits a striking, blue glow when in contact with even trace amounts of blood. Cops say the Luminol lit up like a Christmas tree, leading them to the nearby apartment of brothers, Jose Guadalupe Rodriguez and Jose Valentin Rodriguez.
Cold-Blooded Calculation
Cops were horrified at what they found upon entering the Rodriguez's apartment. Luminol showed massive amounts of blood that painted the apartment from the walls to the carpet. The seasoned cops investigating said that they had never witnessed such a brutal or extensive scene.
It's no wonder there was so much blood-- cops say Jose Guadalupe Rodriguez and Jose Valentin Rodriguez badly beat their two victims, stabbed them each between 60 and 80 times, and finished them off by slicing their throats. Evidence suggests that the victims put up a tough fight, but were ultimately beaten beyond death, then dragged to the outhouse where they were found more than two weeks later.
Investigators say a neighbor told them the motive of this heinous crime was that the victims "got smart with them." Cops say their murder was a carefully calculated team effort, in which the victims were invited into the apartment, one at a time.
Cops say the Rodriguezes had enjoyed a barbeque with neighbors less than 24 hours after committing their atrocious crime. They stayed in their apartment for three more days, allegedly trying to clean up the extensive blood, then fled. Cops aren't sure where they went but they are convinced that based on the brutality of their crimes, the Rodriguez brothers are not rookies and they will strike again.
Thoughts? The above was from the AMW archives where the Rodriguezes were featured as web-exclusives. Obviously, based on that grainy photo, there's obviously a better chance Jose Guadelupe gets caught then Jose Valentin. So let's hope the brothers are with each other if the police ever come.
