The Community Reward Fund is offering a $5,000 reward for information that helps solve the murder of 45-year-old Robert Ghostbear.
Ghostbear’s body was found near the railroad tracks on East North Street on the morning of March 21. His death was attributed to blunt force trauma to the head.
“We need the public’s help to solve this case,” Rapid City police Capt. Doug Thrash said. “Someone out there knows what happened, and we need them to do the right thing and come forward.”
The reward fund is also offering a $5,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction in the murder of Carl Bordeaux, 40, in January 2009.
Anyone with information about either death can call 394-4134 or 394-6115. Anonymous tips can be submitted by texting "RCPD" and the information to 847411, or online at www.rapidcitypolice.org.

Thoughts? I should note I don't have a picture for Carl Bordeaux, and even if I did, with the Ghostbear and Bordeaux cases being from different years, it would have been confusing to work both cases into the thread title. So despite the thread title, I still consider this thread a combination of both cases for us to discuss. Sadly it seems both cases don't have a lot of clues to work with. I believe a poster on the Web Sleuths message board thinks a transient likely killed Ghostbear. That would make his case very hard to solve since transients move around and don't stay in one place all the time. We can hope the rewards help both cases though.
