Beloved Hikers Murdered On The Trail
There were few things that Mary Cooper and her daughter, Susanna Stodden, loved more than communing with nature. The pair were avid hikers and family members say they often spent their free time enjoying the many hiking trails that Washington has to offer.
Mary and Susanna were last seen together on July 11, 2006 at a trailhead near Pinnacle Lake. Fellow hikers say it appeared that they were gearing up for a day of hiking and were spotted at around 10 am. Cops have few clues as to what happened to the mother and daughter in the next few hours. At 2:30 pm, the bodies of Mary and Susanna were discovered by the same hikers who had seen them together earlier the same day.
Cops tell AMW that both women died from gunshot wounds, but have few details beyond that. Bizarrely, the hikers who found Mary and Susanna's remains did not hear any gun shots despite being in the general area.
In the year since the tragic, unsolved deaths of Mary Cooper and Susanna Stodden, police still have many questions left answered and are asking for the public's assistance in helping piece together the events surrounding the murders of two beloved and much missed women.

Thoughts? Mary and Susanna's murders were featured on America's Most Wanted's old website as a web-exclusive story, although according to one message board, investigators initially declined AMW's offer to air the story.
Many theories seem to have been floated about, including serial killer Israel Keyes (*sigh*), and Mary's husband Dave Stodden, however, there doesn't seem to be any strong evidence against anybody at the moment. One blogger who profiled the case called Dave a gentle man who was unlikely to be involved. Stodden's lie detector tests proved inconclusive, although it seems he's not willing to take the test again, because, according to the blog, he's tired of investigators focus on him.
I think what this case needs is full national media attention. It's going to be a decade since Mary and Susanna's tragic deaths soon, might as well try it.
