Not much to add except to say if he has relatives in Mexico, then more than likely they're helping him hide there, like so many other fugitives with relatives in the country.

Hector Domignuez is now on the US Marshals District of New Mexico's new website. I think they did an age-enhanced photo which is shown above.

As of the moment at least there is no longer a wanted fugitive listing for New Mexcio on the U.S. Marshals website. However, I feel it is relatively safe to assume Dominguez is still wanted as of this update since there have been two recent updates I've found: September of 2017, they mention how the Chaves County DA is still working to get Dominguez back to stand trial (besides Chihuahua he was thought to have possibly visited family in Roswell and Colorado): www.rdrnews.com/2017/09/22/da-office-working-to-resolve-20-year-old-case-officials-say-they-are-aiming-to-bring-murder-suspect-back-to-chaves-county/In January 2018, out of nowhere, two new suspects were charged in connection to the murder of Edward Raymond Sanchez: "Tony “Nacho” Gonzales, 40, of Roswell was charged Jan. 22 with one count of first-degree murder in the 1997 shooting death of Edward Raymond Sanchez, while Gonzalo David Bonilla, 43, of Haltom, Texas, was originally charged Nov. 16 with four felony counts. But the district attorney has dropped all but a first-degree murder charge against Bonilla at this time, according to court records." Hector Dominguez was referenced as still being at large in that January 2018 article: www.rdrnews.com/2018/01/23/two-charged-in-decades-old-murder-da-brings-cases-against-roswell-texas-men/

A murder charge against one of the three co-defendants accused of murdering Edward Sanchez has been dismissed. The accessory to first-degree murder charge against Gonzalo David Bonilla was dismissed "without prejudice"- meaning it can be refiled again in the future. This follows a "not guilty" verdict in the trial of Tony "Nacho" Gonzales. (Also accused of accessory). There is still an arrest warrant for Dominguez and he was still said to be at large as of October 27th, 2018. www.rdrnews.com/2018/10/27/court-dismisses-charge-in-1997-murder-case/

Apparently Gonzales's defense was he was present when Sanchez was killed but did not shoot him and helped move his body out of fear.
It is a plausible defense in my opinion. Doesn't mean he's really innocent but it's a realistic enough defense that it brings reasonable doubt into play.
Hopefully there is still time for the two main believed culprits- Dominguez and Bonilla (if charges are filed again) to be broight to justice if guilty.
